Edited by: Drizit on 08/07/2006 13:42:01 The problem with England is hot weather always has a lot of moisture in the air so it makes you feel clammy and uncomfortable. I prefer a dry heat like in the Middle East, at least you don't feel so bad with it.
I hate the cold but I guess that due to living most of my early life in Asian countries cos my dad was in the army.
The UK retailers capitalise on everything so you end up paying an arm and a leg and several other extremities for an air conditioner here.

Anyone in England has no right to complain about any enviromentle factors at all. Are summer arnt to hot, our winters arnt to cold, it dosent rain that much, it isn't to dry. Virtually every other counry on the planet has it worse in at least 2 of these respects, most in 3 or even all 4.

Kansas has some extreme weather and we soldier through, but only God knows why.
Winter = -10 F (-23 C) *with windchill ofcourse Summer = 110F (42 C) * with heat/humidity index
Couple winter weather with an obscene lack of snow and a stupid amount of ice. And then throw in tornados and hail storms in the Summer.
This summer has been very nice tho. Has rarely been warmer than 95 (35 C) and the last couple days it has been around 85 (29 C). Not having to run the A/C is awesome.

I live in southern California, near the mexican border. It gets around 95-105F (35-40 C) normally thorugh summer, hits as high as 110-120 (43-48C) during August and September. Now and then we'll get a real hot day, and it'll be 125ish F (50!C) --------------

We're english. It's what we do. tbh I think the weather is fine, but our houses aren't. The old terraces with their immensely thick stone walls are great for keeping heat in but are sweltering in summer. The new houses still have too much insulation, or in some cases the walls are too thin.
Imo we would be better off with villa- style houses because of the changing climate, and not the tudor-esque ones we have now. -----------------------------------------------

Our summers aren't too hot...except in the freaking HEAT WAVES. Our winters aren't too cold...Which means it's cold enough to be cold, but not cold enough to get any snow. It rains enough, unless you want it to. Yeah every other country on the planet has it worse, but they've usually got something better to go along with it. Britain is the jack of all trades weatherwise - it does everything, just badly.
I guess the brightside is no earthquakes or tornados...I've talked casually to friends in america and they've been like "oh, there's a tornado outside." and I'm thinking they're joking because they're so calm about it...and not unhooking their computer and running for cover
meanwhile our drama is there's a hosepipe ban on and our hanging baskets are looking grotty __________________________ Indulge Me |

It is a an inbuilt genetic balancing system, if our weather conversations fail, we revert to drinking tea. If that fails we move onto discussing cricket. If that sa***uard fails we start to actually achieve something, industrial revolutions, empires etc.
Actually the main problem here is that our weather is unpredictable. Most of our cars, office, trains, underground systems and offices have no A/C. Our offices expect us to wear suits and ties in almost any weather. Our local government is taken by suprise every time it snows and our roads turn to ice rinks. One day it can be 19c here and within a week it can be snowing. Where else in the world can you have a wettest drought in history? -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

Bah you guy's don't know hot! Try living in AZ where it's passed 120 F and for the last 10 days it's been at 110 or more! Then add in car's that can actually burn you (I'm not kidding on that I have burnt myself by touching the hood of my car) if you touch any part of them. And finally have me! A guy who's grown up in -20 F weather!!!

Edited by: Henrik Yssuts on 12/07/2006 16:48:58 you think you have it bad? try dealing with the bizarro weather of the great lakes area. one week it's temps of over 90 degrees F, the next week it's pouring everyday and the temps gotten down to the 50s.
almost 70 F in february? sounds like global warming to me.
yes, we do get an assload of snow in the winter (except for chicago-for being right on lake michigan, there was almost no snow, just wind.)
oh, and its 78 F and breezy today
