Hey guys recently bought eve and I'm trying to make a profit through mining, I have my venture with mining lasers and drones but making isk seems to be slow. I am trying to save up for a Retriever. Is there any faster way to make money besides mining? If so where can I go to find these missions and how much isk will I make?
Thanks in advance for helping me out and taking the time to read this :) |

Ill bite, even though im pretty sure I know what this is really about. Thread Intent Cloaking level 5 detected.
Anyways, You can run missions from agents located in stations. There are many guides available to help you. I like this one. Its best that you pick one entitly (i.e. Fed Navy or Roden Shipyards) and run missions for that one. Itll help you unlock higher level missions which will lead to better payouts as your standings towards the entity increase. Be careful about declining missions too often. Run storyline missions when they become available, as they will give you a nice bump in standings when completed.
Also remember to loot and salvage the wrecks. When you are a newer player () that extra ISK from selling the loot off helps!
Edit: Oh yes, that guide will let you know what damage types to tank for, triggers for spawn, recommended damage type to deal, etc. All good stuff.
And as always, I recommend all newer players download and read this. Soo much good stuff, soo much helpful. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

You could also join a player Corp specialsizing in mining. specifically one in null with 24/7 mining boosts and over 100 members with free starter mining barges would be a great thing to boost your career in mining. Mining boosts literally double what you mine a hour compared to solo mining. |

And as an aspiring miner, please remember that since you invest your time into mining, minerals you mine are not free. Minerals that other people mine, however, are completely free, so you might consider training some combat skills to take advantage of that.
Good luck! I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

All right, just stop it. Stop what you're doing here. I don't know what is going on when Unsuccessful At Everything gives a non-troll and actually very helpful post. Followed up by helpful posts by everyone. Even Ralph because a clean version of Confused Fry ready for subtitling is very nice. So quit it. This is GD not New Players. You're all doing it wrong.
Also OP, when you are running the missions Unsuccessful At Everything told you about, be careful about tanking your standings to the other Empires. If you are running missions for Gallente, then your Minmatar standings will also go up, because they're bros. But your standings will go down with those evil slavers Amarr and their corporate lackys the Caldari. Generally try to decline missions that put you against a different empire. This will minimize the damage to your standings with them. They get all snotty when you start blowing up their glorious, but evil, navy. If we're not supposed to shoot pods in hisec, why are they filled with meat? |

Aww, don't worry, we're just roleplaying here. OP plays a legit newbie, while the rest of us pretend to be nice and helpful vets.
Since I am already wearing my robe and wizard hat, here is another tip:
Since you want to go into industry, you should run missions for the big research npc corps, for Gallente that would be Roden, Duvolle and CreoDron. If you increase your standing with those corps enough, they will offer you jumpclones later on (very important) and access to research agents for inventing t2 stuff. I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

There is actually a thread over in the missions forum discussing how blitzing level IV mining missions with enough alts can actually pay good ISK per hour.
I think the logic was you can afk mining missions easier than real mining as there is generally just one huge roid.
Which brings up the key point. Mining is only good ISK/hour if you: a) are only a few weeks old and cannot do much else b) OR multibox/ have alts c) OR for real life reasons (such as young children) need to be afk regularly without notice
otherwise it sux compared to everything else |

Dead end systems, .8 or .9 sec ideally. They offer more Dense Veld, Massive Scordite, Rich Plag and the like than pipe systems.
You will make 2 mill an hour or so and 25 hours later you will have the skills and the ISK to get your Ret. 25 hours more and you will be able to replace it, stay in the same systems you used the Venture in.
When mining gets boring, jump in an exploration ship and check out some of the Data and relic sites. You might luck out on some of the decryptors that still sell for a mill plus but it's more about diversionary content. |

Yeah, exactly.
I could be wrong but I think a brand new player can only post in the Eve New Citizens Q&A sub-forum for the first 30 days.
Anyway, to the OP, good luck and welcome to Eve.

DMC I thought so too but according to jpoll it's a trial account thing, once you sub up you essentially get the whole forum.
Anyway, back to general discussion normality : forget mining ,you should ; 1)become a bounty hunter 2)Run an isk doubleing service (with a bonus room) 3)Start an inflammatory blog and polarize the community 4)Lose an argument with tippia , then join the nights watch

Mining is bad for you ya no unless they changed the way mining works and nobody told me, sitting for hours on end staring at rocks will make you a little "simple" i think that is the right word it starts off ok but it gets worse and worse till the point your dribbling all down your chin and get a nervous twitch when some else enters YOUR belt to steal YOUR rocks yes you start to get possessive of your rock friends some even name them..... |

At this stage of your career, you have two choices.
Become more combat oriented and start investing in skils and ships for that purpose. This is a popular choice, since you can put those skils to PvE or PvP as required. Also, it is a much more pro-active way of making ISK. You started out mining, but the moment you can afford a Destroy or better, you can step into the wilderness and kill Pirates for their bounties.
Or you can invest in a industrialist career, and skill for ORE ships and the like. Mining and industry are the backbone of EVE, and probably the most unpopular ways of making ISK. But it is a honest, way of living. If you have a permit that is.
Alternatively, you can dabble in both like me. Guristas ships are very sturdy and synergize marvelously with ORE Mastery, since both have a focus in Shields and Drones. Many will be quick to shoot me down for having these notions, but being able to enjoy all areas of the game with a single character is a boon. |

I keep seeing bounty hunting come up, but I don't think that is a viable career. If you can make isk at bounty hunting then you are using an exploit. A better choice is starting an isk doubling service. In New Eden it is ok to scam players out of their isk, but if you scam CCP out of isk with profitable bounty hunting then it is an exploit. If we're not supposed to shoot pods in hisec, why are they filled with meat? |

Seriously don't see how i'm begging for isk? I'm asking a simple question if you would like me to screenshot all my inventory and venture with 2 mining lasers I and 2 drones I can defiantly do that. I'm reading some players think this is a troll question and that i'm not a new player but I can assure you I am.
*Edit* Thank you to all those who actually took my question seriously, I am considering switching my training to do more contract jobs and using freight ships |

Then you should have posted in the new citizens Q&A, there is a lot less trolling and paranoia in there. "PvE in EVE is a trap to turn you into PvP content, don't confuse it for actual gameplay." Lipbite |

No need to apologize, I was just letting you know why people were calling this a "stealth begging thread."
If you are serious about hauling make sure you learn to properly tank your ship and don't carry too much in one load or we might meet soon in a less than desirable way (from your point of view anyway). Re-fit that venture with some salvagers, salvaging rigs, shield resists, stabs, etc... and go salvage in low/null sec. Make a ton more ISK salvaging elite frigate wrecks than you will mining. And its a lot more fun. Only real skill you need is "avoid the bad guys". |
