EPM 1.30 has been deployed with the following improvements:
- Market Research Report considers an order as a competitor if it has been updated within the last 24 hours. - Market Research Report now filters out blueprints owned and outliers - Minor bug fixes

Can you comment about how to use and think about the "Buy Order Range" setting?

"Set your minimum stocks in Production -- Item Maintenance -- Buildable. Normally this will be a maximum of 23/24 hours of production".
Does this mean a total of 23 hours of production including all items or set each item's stock level to the quantity of that item which can be built i 23 hour period?
example: I have 4 items, 100 runs each, each of which requires 23 hours to build. Should I set stock level to 100 for each of them or 25 for each of them?

1. How do you determine the optimal sell order duration?
2. How do you determine the optimal buy order duration?
3. How do you determine the optimal minimum buy quantity?
4. Is it possible to "win" the ISK war on single change buy/sell price change per day? If so, generally speaking, how many products and what range of "groups" does one need to have on the market at any point in time, to make this happen? Can any guidelines be offered for Eve's version of "efficient assortment"?
I have 21 items, all but one of which have turned an acceptable profit to me within the last 3 weeks. However, it seems that a lot of that profit has come from making multiple price changes, each day, for each item.
5. Have you ever deliberately sunk the market for a single item?

Through the magic of idiocy, I wildly over-produced an ammo/charge item. At current volume and acceptable profit, it could take almost a year to unload it all. I have many thousand in my sell location but I'm only putting a rational amount on the market at one time. In Item Maintenance the Minimum Quantity is set to 1....and yet EPM is calling for me to do 3 x 1 runs today. This would further over -produce the item and does not seem to square with my actual inventory.

How much of that ammo/charge item did you sell last week?
Every time I've thought EPM was doing something screwy, I go back to the Item Sales output and find that I actually did sell enough for one day's production to kick in. |

+1 to your post (and all of SJ's in this thread). I'm asserting "operator intellectual deficiency", not a problem with this brilliant piece of software.
Here's the state at this moment (supporting screenshots available).
I have a couple thousand units off the market in my sell hub....about 5.3 weeks worth of supply at MY last week's volume.
I have 100 units on the market in my sell hub.
For the period 7.24.15 through 7.30.15, I sold 360.
EPM is suggesting a build Quantity of 4 and Batch size of 1. This would replenish about 23% of the amount sold last week but I'll still have about a 5+ week supply. The three month volume for this item, reported by the in-game market report, is very flat.
Any insight for me? Please and thank you.

Hmmm, no, you have me stumped. SJ will have to sort this out.
My experience tells me that EPM ignores how many I have up for sale on the market right that minute. Only that it checks the inventory you have in your build station or your sell station and compares that to what you've sold last week. So couple thousand sitting in the sell station > 360 sold in the last week, I would think you wouldn't be suggested to build any at all. |

Which item? I can easily impersonate you on production to double-check your math, and if it actually looks wrong grab a copy of the production database to step through the code. For other reasons I have a copy of the database as of a few hours ago so I should easily see what's going on.

SJ,
if this turns out to be faulty understanding on my part (as I think it might), accept my apology for taking the time to look into it.
Since my post the other day, the only additional thing I've been able reason out is that many of the stock may have bee3n built before I started using EPM.

EPM 1.38.0 the Responsive Edition has been released. Focusing on low bandwidth connection and mobile web and absolute intolerance of latency, EPM has received a major refactor in terms of its web design. Page reloads are so 2006, right.
Item Maintenance has been folded into the Production Queue: spin your build quantities, add/remove build items instantly.
Material Maintenance has been folded into Materials: update inventory multipliers on the spot.
Sales reports now drill directly into related detail. Click on any item and instantly see its detail.
Most but not all reports load and then back end load the data. Most times in a modern browser the difference is academic, but the igb is a ******* nightmare when a page response exceeds a few seconds. There isn't much I can do to improve on how much data crunches into cutting edge calculations, but it's a .01 eat .01 world amiright.
The date-range sales reports now instantly reload when a date changes. It's little stuff like that that keeps me coding. Just say no to a refresh button.
Not too long ago freight costs became a configuration option, so when RFF hands you lube you can factor their phalluses into your costs. I've moved on to private contracts, but that's just me. Just sayin'.
Behind the scenes, all the latest and greatest of ASP.NET 5 and MVC 6 have been rolled in. In direct terms you won't see the difference, but cleaning up internal code frees up ease of pushing forward.
Thanks to the on average seven of you who have enjoyed gratis my efforts. In any sense EPM has failed to meet a single objective in terms of validation.
I've started consistently cracking the 18bil a month profit range. There's no secret there; I simply don't argue with software with 8 years of experience backing it even if at to this point I don't remember the early stuff but have learned repeatedly that on analysis it in aggregate is far smarter than I am on any given day.

Nice post, SJ. I really like the ideas behind EPM, and I keep meaning to try it, but I was put off by the IGB. I hate the darn thing, and for a long time it crashed on me - and crashed the client - every time I opened it. It seems to not be doing that at the moment, so I'm going to give EPM a try soon's I get over this miserable cold. |

The igb part is a convenience, not a necessity. At times I have half-screened between Firefox and Eve, and many can simply dual screen. The only igb-specific part of EPM is the convenience of clicking on a material to pop up a buy window; it's of course doable to just buy the item in-game. Dual-screening has the advantage of getting html5 features such as spinners.

Heh. Finally got this set up and working. Not that I understand it all, but...
I've been using EVE-IPH to suggests things to build, and building and selling ammo on those suggestions. But I've accumulated a lot more minerals than EPM thinks I need, and I think that's why EPM is telling me that I'm losing ISK on the manufacturing I'm doing. Or maybe I really am losing ISK and just don't know it. For one thing, I've been adjusting my sell orders once or twice a week to keep them on top of the list, or close to it, and most of those adjustments have been downward. Maybe I should just let stuff sit until the price comes back up.
On the manual pages, under "production" there's a page that talks about "Item Maintenance - Buildable" which is apparently a screen that shows what I can build. I don't see this in the app anywhere. Did something change, or am I missing it? This is part of the "getting started" sequence, so I'm sort of at a loss here.
When I first go to the "Build Items" screen, there's nothing there. When I check "show all" it shows everything I have blueprints for (I think) but all of them are in red except "scordite mining crystal" and they all have negative values for hourly profit, markup, and profit factor, except that for the scordite mining crystal those numbers are all zero. "Quantity" is blank, and "batch size" is all zero. If I change the batch size on a BP I haven't used for production, Quantity changes to zero. If I do it on something I've built, it goes up in groups of three on some things, one for one on others. I guess what this is telling me is that I don't have any blueprints worth building from, but I dunno, and I'm not at all sure what the quantity and batch numbers are doing.
On the "production queue materials" screen, various minerals are listed as "needed" for my production queue, but as I said in the previous paragraph, I don't seem to *have* a production queue. Also, Isogen is listed five times, with five different fractional mulitpliers. The other minerals (tritanium, pyerite, nocxium, and mexallon) all have multipliers of 1. The "available" column corresponds to what I have on hand.
Sorry if I seem slow, but I'm just not getting it yet. :-( |

EPM tracks every cost that eats into your margin: freight, factory, broker, etc. Go into the Market Research Report, click on Show All, and if all of your ammo shows at a loss, I would put money on it being a loss proposition. I drilled into the Scourge Heavy Missile in Amarr to sanity check, and it's selling after direct costs at about 1.6% before taking into account factory and freight costs which would put it solidly into the red. For years on end, ammo as a profit maker has been consistently bad advice unfortunately. Do some grinding to pick up about a bil in capital, pick up a large purger, and you will see much better results than you're seeing available to you now.

It doesn't seem to work anymore, tried setting up a account, and the only thing I'm able to do is set up my API and go to the configuration screen (in which I can't enter the system I'm buying/selling and producing in. The dashboard just keeps showing the loading wheel and all other links give this error (with a lot more stuff below it):

From what I've seen of it (which isn't much as so far it has been flakey as hell), that seems to be incorporated into "Build Items" now.
It seems like maybe EPM has some caching issues, as so far, any changes I've made in build items are roundly ignored until I log out and back in. Same for configuration.
