Keep looking for them , you will find them .... rare but good amount of loot. Check the jumps in that system less = better . |

Yup just keep looking they are out there. Sometimes you''ll hit 4 or 5 in a system, other times you'll get many systems with nothing. It evens out over time, keep going. |

so I found my first data site in low there was about 4 mill in loot in there.my plan is too do the low sec ones until I get good at this and then get a t3 for null .how much can you make in null per hour. low looks like I would be making 10-20mill per hour.i am not looking to make crazy isk. all I do is mostly covert pvp and bombers and recons don't cost that much. |

The problem with null is getting in and out of null. You don't need t3, just need to be very careful. Setup bookmarks for gates so that you don't warp into a bubble. Setup safe spots in the systems. Fit cloak so nobody can scan you down.
Basically if you be picky about time you go in and out of null, you don't need t3, a t1 frig will do just fine, t2 frig would be nice so you can warp while cloaked.
Also SOE ships. I have not used any of them, but I hear they are also nice. Life is short and dinner time is chancy Eat dessert first! |

Lowsec can be very tricky on data and relics. Good navigation and recon plus knowledge about the system you are frequently inside is essential.
Nullsec isnt too tricky. Just go over wormholes, either directly or inside the wormholespace to low and null. Helps to save a lot of time and no need to cross the borderlines between the security levels with all the dudes on gates. In nullsec go for NPC sov areas, player sov is mostly a waste of time, and dont even think about drone regions, there is nothing but combats. Rumors say it is "guaranteed" that drone commanders drop rogue drone nexus chips. Gr8. Just that mostly no drone commander is inside hehe.
Regarding ships: lowsec and nullsec has 2 options. Cheap or highly specialized. First is easy to replace, second is very hard to catch by hunters. But nullsec a T3 is almost a must-use, for high efficiency on hacking and for immunity versus bubbeleers and dictors. I saw gates last week where some paranoids had placed loads of mobile warp disruptors, so widely spread that u had to fly like 100 km before u could gate or jump through gate. Without interdiction nullify a real timesink. |

Cov-ops frigates are perfect for exploring null sec relic/data sites. I bet someone could do quite well in a T1 frigate as well to be honest, even in null sec if they know what they are doing. I've only been a dedicated explorer for a few weeks so far, but I have been doing great in my cov-ops frigate. I see no need for a T3 like a tengu unless you want to run combat sites. I would guess flying a T3 running relic/data/select combat sites would be the most profitable.
From my experience so far, I would suggest running high sec and low sec sites with a T1 frigate while you train for a cov-ops. Once you can decently fly a T2 cov-ops frigate move to null sec there is much more isk to be made. Eventually graduate to T3 and hit some of the combat sites as well. Travel around a lot and take notes of good areas and bad areas. Sometimes you will just have no luck because of bad timing. Sometimes it is just a bad area to explore for relic/data sites.
It is essential in null sec to use an expanded probe launcher because some gates are beyond d-scan range. Expanded launchers allow you to use combat probes which can scan for ships/ warp bubbles. Blindly warping to a gate with anyone in system will eventually lead to your death in null. Also, combat probes can be used as an offensive tactic as well to potentially scare away other explorers. Being probed down while in a site with combat probes appears more threatening than regular probes, at least when you avoid their d-scan and they don't know what ship your flying.
There is plenty of isk to be made exploring you just have to put some effort into it just like any other profession in EVE. Explorer-á |-á Ghost |
