I need some help setting up my new hawk for both PVP and PVe, any suggestions greatfully accepted (as long as they dont involve me selling the hawk) Killing Smurfs without prejudice since 1978 |

mine's set up as follows:
high: 4x Malkuth standard launchers loaded with Bloodclaws (soon to be replaced for tech 2)
mid: 1MN afterburner 2, viscoelastic EM ward salubrity, relativistic field deflection matrix, small shield booster 2
low: power diagnostic system, local hull mod- overdrive injection 1.
works fine for PvE, not yet tried it in PvP. decent shield resistances all rounds, the shield boost bonus makes live very easy, and it works fine for now. it'll probably need some tweaking when I fit the tech 2 missiles, though. I'll probably go with furies, as the overdrive injector should counterbalance the speed reduction. ____________________________________________________________

Trade the Hawk for a Harpy?

the Hawk's a much nicer ship nowadays. it's no longer a poor imitation of a Harpy, it's actually got a proper mission profile now - it's effectively an assault kestrel. four launcher hardpoints, and a shield boosting bonus, so it's got a tougher tank than the Harp, and can actually put out a decent DPS, provided the pilot has decent missile skills.
so whereas before, there was no way a Hawk was ever going to be as good as a Harpy, I'd say they're pretty close to being equal nowadays. ____________________________________________________________

I've only had mine a little while but has so far had little problem with lvl 3 missions.
4 x Standard Missile II [T1 Bloodclaw]
1 x named explosive resistence, 1 x named em resistence, 1 x multispectral hardener 1 x em hardener
1 x cpu booster 1 x dmg mod
Shield resistence is at a min of 72% with over 1000hp. Armour is another story...

Are there many level 3's that do all damage types?

very true, but not exactly correct as a kestral has more dps then a hawk. (kestral is sick).
for fittings i run this 4x standard II's (precision light) 1x small cap injector (best named, looking for best named micro but cant find it... if you have one i will pay good isk for it). 1x gisti a-type small sheild booster 1x dread guristas passive em hardener 1x 20km disruptor lows... dont know off hand i dont have the cpu for any bcu II's thats why i am loooking for the micro cap injector.
