Last week Angels put up a pos in the system but they forgot to refuel it, now a mixed Huzza/IAC fleet are taking it down in support of the Sansha (not sure if any sansha ships are involved). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nice to hear Ace, but how do you explain the combined LV/CC/PHA fleet that camped IAC space earlier today in "retaliation" for the U-Q POS takedown?
Aren't you friends anymore?

Oh its so great that there is always one jerk that tries to destroy valuable content because it is not generic enough. Newsflash... no matter wich "entity" is "favoured" there is always someone like you complaining. I do not care myself if others have fun i actually like it when they do and maybe it would help you as well for your inner peace to like it when others are being lucky. If this was like the 10th event only for those entities then what you said would be making sense, but given the rare happenings of these events all you do is dissing other peoples hard work. Making such RP heavy events is a ****load of work and i know from experience that volunteer programs in mmorpgs are VERY heavy observed and i am sure that this also happens in eve. Including the "given out" goodies.
I really suggest you bring up something valuable for this topic since just claiming the ISD cheats is everything but constructive.
PS: i have never been part of one of these events myself

There were no Sansha or Angels present, was just IAC taking down an Angel Cartel POS, (with some help from Huzzah ).
Our intel was slightly out of date, we had expected the POS to be fully operational and rather nasty, damn thing was online with 14 shield hardeners and 12 guns last we looked
So anyways we blew up an offline POS, no defenders showed up.
(and the Snigg outpost that popped up there during our op was just a coincidence, honest)

bah, where was your 150 man fleet when we camped that damn system for 5 hours? not one enemy showed up, even with plenty of advance warning.
bit lame, taking out the pos when it was offline (but even more stupid of the angels to let it run out of fuel) ofcourse no defenders showed up, unlike the offical event there was no notice to both sides
btw, LV and CC made a 6 hour ceasefire to help our common allies the Cartel with the deployment

For an event it was poorly coordinated by the event team. c'mon, if you invite CC and LV you know you are in for a party! A big one too!
Now the Sancha's failed to show up, BoB didnt show up, IAC, SA and Huzzah. All named where supporting the sancha side. I found this pretty dissapointing.
Though i enjoyed the fact that we where able to agree on a cease fire with CC. Its just amazing differences (etc) can be set aside for a bigger thing. That was the most awesome thing of the whole event.
ALMOST makes up for the wasted time.

People involved in the Angel POS delployment got no real benefit from the event. If you wanted to be involved you could have just contacted someone from the alliances involved and worked out temporary standings. You wont be spoon fed anything, If an event is going to happen secure your stanings with parties involved and just show up, you dont need an invitation.

Huzzah just showed up realy to help out IAC.
But I do think it would make much more sense for the NPCs to launch attacks on those that hunt them the most. For example Shansha haveing a go at us and the Angel Cartel having a pop at LV and or CC.

I think the whole standings thing is mostly ignored because it's not practical to base anything on them, prime fiction doesn't always match game mechanics all that smoothly.
If you want to provide events that a lot of people can take part in, it'd be pretty lame to just exclude everyone who lives in the region it takes part in because they npc hunt,
RP is such a small part of the average player's game that only a very small amount of people who want to be friends with the Angel Cartel are going to actually sacrifice the best ISK source for people operating in angel regions for no tangible benefit.

The Angels say when and where the event will take place. The players sort themselves out and show up for the event.

I see you nicely evaded answering my actual question Shamis, so again:
What would YOU offer as rewards for Events?
For your reference, ive been in on quite a few Events, small & universe-wide, and for any Event requiring PvP, the rewards didnt even remotely cover any losses we took. The real rewards are:
1. Fun 2. Recognition
For alliance members, 1. is important, for the alliance itself, 2. is much more valuable. It's never about ISK.

I wouldn't offer any rewards. Anybody who doesn't have to follow the normal game mechanics to aquire game items shouldn't be allowed to disrupt the flow of the game.
In my opinion, volunteer RP staff shouldn't be allowed to work with regular players. Events where random pirate factions show up in a region to kill everybody seem ok (as long as they are properly distributed both territorly and by timezone) but even then, I'm sure their in-game friends are tipped off before the event so that they can be there and waiting to get the good loot.
Having only one server for most of the world already causes too many conflict's of interest as is, no need to throw in more chances for abuse or bias.
Events like the scavenger hunt/riddle thing that Burn Eden won seem much less problematic politically, although the chances of collusion are equally high. But even those types of events tend to favor a certain portion of the population because they often aren't announced far in advance and certain timezones will have a clear advantage.
At the end of the day, the question that really needs to be asked is this: Does the EVE population want CCP to spoon feed us content like other games do? Or should this content be generated by players using all the normal in game mechanics?
I strongly prefer the latter option, but I guess I'm alone in this...

Dude, count yourself lucky. That was one of the lamest things I ever did in my whole time in Eve. Total waste of game time. Might as well have been mining veld.
Next time, I'll throw a mail your way and maybe you Snig guys can come and mix it up. Anything would be better than waiting hours on end next to a nice juicy fleet of enemies with temp standings for Sansha no-shows only to have it run down the drain due to crap Cartel logistics.
And yeah, we didn't get jack for our time. Big incentive all around to participate again.
Sorry to be such a buzz-killing b**** but event stuff really needs some work if they want people to stay excited about it.

There is one more channel other than mail that we do have with the angels. The system that BGBR bases out of happens to be the Archangel Headquarters. So we do end up talking to Xavier Khun (the ISD char representing the angels) in local from time to time.
But other than that no, we don't have any "inside" info or help. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
