Alright, Im running a 1.5 Mil SP character, trained with 400K in drones, I have acess to every T1 Drone except sentries, and I am trained up to Gallente BC. Im an industrial pilot in an industrial-heavy corp. Recently our guys have been getting ganked by a 200+ Man ganking alliance. So far theres been no war, but I want to get myself into a nice drone boat that I can use on PvE Missions AND to defend our fleets. The vexor looks to squishy to me, and its drone bay is rather small. I was considering a Myrmidon or a Dominix, could use some input. The gankers use catalysts, so heavy or medium drones? Also my PvP/Gunnery skills and such are rather low, but Im willing to train it up a bit as long as it wont take forever. Any input is apreciated, Fly Safe 0/ |

There really isn't a way to fight a gank fleet. They're there to lose ships anyhow; doing enough damage to make a difference in a short enough time frame is unlikely.
However, the Domi is a fine boat for other things (like missions). I would train for that. |

Tell your corp to quit fitting for max yield and minimal tank, quit mining AFK, quit mining in lowsec, and quit going suspect while they're in a mining barge. That might help. Sitting around in a drone boat wont. |

In order to be useful for countering ganks, train Remote reps, E-WAR or boosting. In order to mission, train for an ishtar or domi.
Countering a gank is mostly about disrupting their DPS vs. EHP in time x equation. ECM or tracking disruption with range scripts will rapidly reduce their applied DPS, Boosts will change the EHP of your fleets ships in ways which are invisible, but have a very long train time to get to a useable level. Killing a catalyst in the ~20 seconds between the initiation of a gank and CONCORDs response is hard to do with anything that is not a long train time (t2 1400s with quake on a gank fit tornado is one of the few solo examples)
Remote reps are at their most useful when your corp runs active shield resist mods for kin/exp if purely tanking against catalysts, as the resists are effectively a multiplier for the amount of rep you put onto the ship. This said, it takes a days to train a useful scythe with m4 reps if you are currently gallante, but this will help put you in faction hulls if you want to run serpentis or angel ships, which are both epic in PvE and PvP when used correctly (but expensive and skill intensive to fly right)
For missions, only heavily drone bonused hulls are currently usable with drones as the main training, so I recommend the following hulls, with mission levels in parentheses. Most of these require a few weeks of training in the drone passives to get good though. ishtar (3 + 4) Vexor (2) Mymadon (3) Dominix (4) That crazy bag FC with the silly things on the hull that shouldn't but just did. |

Surely you mean kinetic/thermal resists. |

Alright, thank you all for the feedback, but would a Myrmidon, which gets boosts to remote rep be a good option to repair our fleets barges while ECM Drones combat the catalysts? If anything I say doesn't make sense, remember I am newer to the game |

1. As a relatively new character, I am going to strongly urge you to stay out of hulls larger than a cruiser until you get your basic support skills trained up. Undocking a ship and being able to properly fit/fly a ship are two entirely different things. New players tend to lose ships at an alarming rate, so it's far better to have those losses be less expensive.
2. Ignoring #1 for a moment, the Myrmidon only gets boosts to local armor reppers, not remote armor reppers. While you could use it as a logistics platform, it would be an un-bonused platform. An Exqueror would make a much better choice as it is bonused for remote armor reps.
3. Given the short timeframe of suicide gank engagements, ECM drones are likely not going to help. A dedicated, fast-locking ECM ship like a Griffin or a Blackbird may, but you'd need to train an entirely new set of skills.
Suicide gankers are, by their nature, rather difficult to combat directly. The absolute best way to combat this kind of foe is to make your corp's mining ops less appealing targets. Reading Comprehension: a skill so important it deserves it's own skillbook.

OK Thank you all, I've been thinking, and for now I agree that just tanking and using Procures/Skiffs will be much easier. Now, rather than make a new thread I guess that it will be better to ask here. To fly the Vexor on lvl 1 and 2 missions, E-Uni is suggesting that you treat the Vexor as a sixth drone, and says you should fit it with all of these faction modules, making it extremely expensive, and charging in isn't really my play style, I like to sit back and snipe from long ranges. While I assume it is simple to just fit drone range/damage amps and some tracking computers for a kite Vexor, does anyone have experience or suggestions for me? Thanks! |

1. Please make sure to purchase your mining permits, they may save you from these.... unfortunant losses 2. You really cant fight gank fleets unless you can kill multiple cattys in the span of 15 seconds before concord does it for you 3. Dominix, Myrmidon, Eos, Ishtar, Vexor, Navy Vexor are great drone boats for the other things you listed
Have a Happy CODE compliant day Is it bad if your friend says "that was a Metaphor" and you say "Meta 4? Get Tech II or faction" ?I love the sound of silent explosions in Space.-á |

best way to counter gank fleets is to give them f all to blow up and give them a hard time doing it too. they will get bored if all they are getting is cheap frigs and such.
make it so that ganking you will cost them more than they gain. in other words dont fly expensive **** and dont afk while mining.
could you guys just take out ventures till they stop? those things come stabbed you know...
also some good advise given - you should stay away from the larger hulls till your support skills are good (4s and 5s).
ive never fit an orca before but surely u can tank it?
venture fleet + bait orca anyone?

Simple solution: Don't mine in hisec. The refine yield is crappy there anyway. |

just threw together a cata gank fit in Neocom
these things can put 650 dps (no implants) so just make sure your orca is tanked to hell. and it can survive for ~20 seconds depending.
how many catas are they ganking you with at one time? |
