So just got ganked by a two code pilots near jita.. Yes i know i was auto piloting, my own fault ( didn't think I had anything worth stealing ).
I was just wondering, how these guys manage to do it, they were both -10, So the couldn't have been camping the gate as the space police would have popped them. How do people with -10 sec rating manage to get from null sec or low sec to jita find a target and kill them before they get concorded.
Again not crying, i was quite impressed... im tempted to make a alt and try this myself. If they really are bouncing around like crazy looking for targets it must be a massive rush. |

You were likely seen autopiloting by a scout. Because autopilot dumps you outside of jump range (10k) off gate, this gives the gank crew plenty of time to respond.
The scout followed you, and the gankers simply jumped in ahead of you and blapped you. Keep in mind that the FACPO and CONCORD arent the same, so while they will be chased around by the FACPO, just being -10 wont get you CONCORDED. (Unless in that CONCORD owned system, as was pointed out in a separate thread..) Killboard

Confirming Leto is correct.
It can be done without a scout, but leaves you open to attack as its quite easy to notice a pirate. If you are going to try without a scout just make sure you change up your patrol route, if you always patrol the same route it is easy to pick you off, especially if that route contains jumps from system to system. Elaborate on FACPO as i have never heard of them. Do they act similar to faction warfare npcs, similar to a caldari militia travelling in gallantee space. How powerful are the npcs that chase down neg status pilots? |

FACPO = Faction Police. It will appear on grid as "Caldari Navy Police Lieutenant" or some such. They are spawned after a certain time (I am unsure of the exact time) and will chase around players with a low enough sec status (example, -2.0 in a 1.0 system will initiate a response). They are fairly strong (although I have seen them tanked), and will web/scram. They are not CONCORD, however, so can be engaged and evaded.
Edit: Yes, pretty much the same thing as the factional militia. Killboard

There are actually four types of "Police"
- CONCORD attacks anyone with a GCC in high-sec, and only them. - Navies attack FW targets and anyone with -5 or worse faction standing. - Corp Police attack people with poor overall security status. - Customs attacks people who refuse to hand over contraband.
Facpo are quite weak, but the corp police are quite strong and scram. "PvE in EVE is a trap to turn you into PvP content, don't confuse it for actual gameplay." Lipbite |

Autopilot is death, better to dock if you must go AFK unless you dont care about anything your in ( including your pod ) In today's eve its no longer just about cargo value it can be about idealism too, CODE ganks for purpose as well as profit so never assume you are safe if your not at the computer.
And if you want to get into ganking its really quite easy, train gallente Destroyer 4-5, T2 neutron Blasters, some decent gunnery skills and weapon upgrades 4 for mag field stabalizers. should get over 5-600 DPS with good skills which is more than enough to gank an anti-tanked ship such as a retriever, Snackinaw, shuttle, leopard, or likewise especially in 0.5 and 0.6 systems.
if you go through with ganking, welcome to the family Is it bad if your friend says "that was a Metaphor" and you say "Meta 4? Get Tech II or faction" ?I love the sound of silent explosions in Space.-á |

These are the bare basics, but you are severely over simplifying things.
For example if he wants to do what happened to him, he should use a thrasher with a proper shield tank (see D400) if he also wants to get the pod of an autopiloting shuttle/frig. "PvE in EVE is a trap to turn you into PvP content, don't confuse it for actual gameplay." Lipbite |

I just prefer the catty, more raw DPS for gank power, cuts through ships much faster than thrashers, but your right the shield thrasher is viable for gate pot shots since it can take a hit from the guns

Agreed, raw DPS is preferred for non-station/gate ops. "PvE in EVE is a trap to turn you into PvP content, don't confuse it for actual gameplay." Lipbite |

Thanks for the clarification. I actually didn't know there was a difference between navy and corp noc police.

No worries, it is common to not notice. Especially since stuff is usually exploding.
Irrelevant but Funfact: Paying attention to those messages that pop up when you are on the gate informing you of "criminals" can be quite useful, I almost got an Orca popped by the FACPO once as he had bad faction standing and I just bumped him while the FACPO plinked away at him. Unfortunately as I previously mentioned FACPO is quite weak and after 45 mins of plinking, I stopped paying attention long enough for his friend/alt to come in and web him into warp. People with your attitude are why I gank.
It's so heartening to win three victories:
1) One less autopiloter in space right now 2) One less autopiloter in space forever 3) One more person interested in predatory highsec play.

Didn't see it mentioned in the other training suggestions, so don't forget to make Thermodynamics a part of your alt's skill plan.

As previously mentioned, use alts or other people's alts with better sec status to camp for a target and then fly in the brigade.
Code does not pick targets based on profit, but their mantra has brought in the isk a thousand fold more thanks to good/entertaining roleplay. |

Worst advise yet. You are asking someone who is showing interest in a different gameplay style to just "buy a permit" and continue to be prey.

1) train catalyst alt 2) contact any Code agent 3) learn to gank, using minerbumping advice, advice from other gankers, and just experience (aka repeated failure) 4) become an official Code agent (it's pretty easy, minerbumping has a quick guide on becoming an Agent) 5) sell your own alts permits, and don't autopilot them 6) fly with Code or other gankers and have a blast blowing things up. 7) repeat step 6 ad ifinitum Tengu Grib > I agree. And this is of course what you say to someone who is trying not be ganked.... as opposed to what the OP is about here, that being learning how to gank. In this particular case your advice is aimed at the wrong audience. Points added for zeal. Points deducted for reading comprehension. Net result, zero. |
