Hi all, following situation:
You are attacked by a Dominix with Garde/Bouncer from 60 km range. Domi has locked you, Bouncer's are launched and shooting at you.
a.) If you are using Sensor Dampener's and the lock range of the Domi is below 60, will the Bouncer stop shooting?
b.) If you are using 2 Magnetrometric Jammer's at the Domi with e.g. 25 points, againts a Standard Domi which has 22 points , will the Bouncer stop shooting?
c.) Do I have to use the Magnetrometric Jammer's against the Bouncer's?
What is the most effective way to counter a Domi, please don't write stuff like, fly away, do not undock....

a: No. Once applied, the drones will continue to shoot you b: No. Once applied, the drones will continue to shoot you c: No. You dont jam drones. Well... I have never jammed drones to be fair. In all honesty I dont even know if its possible.
The dominix; kill it with fire!
All in all; kill the droneboat or the drones. E-war on droneboats only really helps if they havent locked you and set their drones to attack you yet. Cos drones do their own locking once set out to kill you. |

Right so the way drones and sentries work is that their control range is calculated between you and the host ship, so not between you and the drones/sentrys.
So for the drones it means that ship has move after drones in 50km range from you without drone range augmentors that add + 20km's to range. If the range goes too far the drones will simply stop or return to their host ship.
So this means that if a domi drops sentries from say 120km from you the domi would have to move towards you for the sentries being able to shoot and even closer to actually target lock you first since drones cannot attack unless you shoot first or he has locked you first.
Once drones have acquired the target drones keep shooting at you regardless of ECM results since they need lock only when issuing commands to attack or assist (repair dones). |

Lock range GÇö and locks in general GÇö is just there to make the drone ship actively tell the drones which ship to shoot. Likewise, drone control range is just there to limit how far away the drones can be from the drone ship and still receive (attack) orders from it. Drones can (very badly) make their own decisions as well and once they've been told something, they keep doing it regardless of these ranges. Thus:
a) No. Once they start shooting, they won't stop until you move beyond activation range (250km for sentries) or until the controller says so. In fact, even if you move beyond 250km, they'll try to chase you down so they can start firing again (yes, even sentriesGǪ at a massive 1m/s). b). See a). c) Against bouncer's what?
GǪok, nitpicking about horrible awful apostrophe misuse aside, sure, you can jam a drone. Bouncers have 23pt omni-sensors so you can use any type of jammer you like and the effect will be much the same. Of course, you'll need 5 of them to jam the entire flight, and with that sensor strength, you're probably going to want to apply double or triple the jammers just to be safe. Do you carry 15 ECM modulesGǪ? Drones are dealt with using (smart)bombs or by taking out the controlling ship. Everything else is just a waste of time and effort. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

That's further than most Goons could move in a day to be fair.. |

None of those methods will work. The only way is just to swamp them with a larger force and apply dps to the dominix. There is little point attacking the sentries as the dominix has 375mb drone bay.
Or use a smart bombing battleship as tippia mentioned. |

Last time I got in to a fight with a Domi, I got him to jump in to a drag bubble where 20 corp mates ganked him. That was a long time ago though. |

No, no, and no. Drones poo all over EWAR. All of it. Literally. The best way to counter unbonused drones is with close-range smartbombs. But the domi likely has at least 1 more flight of sentries, if not 2, along with the possiblity of having blasters or neuts in the myriad of utility highs.

Why do we not have ECM sentries?
Why do we not have Webbing sentries?
Where are my Target Painting sentries?
Sensor Dampening sentries?
Oh! What about Logi sentries?
Mining sentries? Naw, that one is ridiculous.
What was the question again? Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

So, you're walking along and you're attacked by a swarm of BEES! The further away you move from the bees' queen lessens the amount of stings you receive; true or false? I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility toward every form of tyranny over the mind of man.-á |
