Edited by: Kal''Kalagan on 13/07/2006 12:26:36 I am trying to decide what to move up to from my Rifter in terms of solo PvP frigates.
I love the idea of High damage gankage such as the Wolf and Claw, but with only 2 mid slots I am limited. Scram to tackle prey or webber to give me a chance agaist other intys that may engage me? (am not considering removing MWD).
I want to be able to tackle prey as well as be able to engage in 1 v 1's with similar ship classes. But if I move to the Jags/Stilletos with their extra mid slot(s), fewer High and Low slot(s) and smaller damage bonus's will I be able go 1 v 1 successfully against the high damage intys without needing to warp out and run.
Would appreciate some advice?

well for a start if you train for either of those pairs of ships then you automaticaly will have access to the other 2, so you could give them a go too.
they all stand a chance vs other frigs except the stilleto, which is the best tackler in the game, so all round those 4 frigs are brilliant, and with all 4 you will have 1 for every eventuality.

IMHO the Claw is one of the most versatile ships in game. Or it was until the new! improved! Jaguar came out in the last patch.
I have had similar success in both the Claw and Jag in solo play - I tend to lose my Wolf in solo play but soar in gangs.
If I could buy just one, it would be the Jaguar at this stage. The four mid-slots are pure sex on a ship. And it deals pretty good DPS with the 3 turret slots too (I use a nos on the forth hi). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I give up on this sig nonsense. |

Edited by: Kal''Kalagan on 13/07/2006 13:02:16 I have been flying around in gang with quite a few Jag pilots in the last week or so - in gangs I agree they are great - but solo what can they realisitcally take on, or should I say what are the limitations?

You will beat all ceptors 95% of the tine unless something really goes wrong. You can go toe to toe with all other assult frigs. I solo tech I cruiser and win almost all of the time(careful with the drone ones). Just make sure you have that tech II medium shield extender on there because you dont really need to enhance the shield resistences. They already rock.

since you use a T2 medium shield extender its pretty obvious your weapons are autocannons. so how would you deal with a longrange crow? or even a rocketcrow orbiting at 12-14km range (tech1 rockets can reach just above 15km on the crow with full skills)
if the encounter is 1 on 1 and near a gate you might be able to wait out your agression timer and jump out. depends on how many damagemods the crow packs i guess :)
Opinions expressed above are my own and not those of my corp or alliance. I speak only for myself. |

I very much enjoy my jag.
3x ac's 1x nos or rocket launcher
medt2 extender, mwd/ab, scram, t2 kin hardener
t2 gyro, 2x t2pdu
Loads of shields with super resists, fast as hell, nearly un-nosable, very respectable damage, most fun ship I have flown.
I retired my wolf for this one. ____________________________ Silflay Hraka U Embleer Rah |

I can fit it even with arties.
high: 3 tech II 250's and arbalist launcher( or just three tech II 280's
Mid: Burner(mwd not needed cause now you have range)20k scram, webber, tech II medium extender.
Low:auxilery cores 1 or 2 depending on if you do the 250+launcher or 280's, gyrostabilizer II. If only one auxilery core is needed i like to throw a nano for a small speed boost and quicker warp
