Okay, I am fitting a Dominix, but just in general, when is it better to fit cap batteries over rechargers? and vice versa? Also on some ships I am guessing with cap batteries you may get a better recharge rate then with cap rechargers... Is there a formula or something that can help me decide which is better?

Edited by: Kel Shek on 14/07/2006 06:53:59 my mission dominix's mid slots are: 2x Cap Rechargers 1x Heavy Cap Injector 1x Large Cap Battery all top named.
oh, and 1x Omnidirectional tracking link.
I've tried 3 cap rechargers instead of the battery and 2 rechargers, I'm not sure how much difference there really is, but I prefer the way it feels with the battery.
edit: clarifying slightly... thats top named... not faction or anything, I am just can't remember how to spell, or can't remember what they are for the proper names.

hmm, formula, right:
Capacitor Capacity/Capacitor recharge time times 2.4 (ish) gives you cap per second recharged at peak. Try intermixing between rechargers and batteries until you find the maxamium cap per second. ---------- Please choose one signature image, as per the forum rules. - Teblin |

It goes like this: recharge = (capacity/ recharge time ) * 2.2
That 2.2 is not exactly the peak, but it is hard to be on the peak all the time.
So it goes like this: If you increase capacity for 10%, you get 10% better recharge(batteries give fix value of cap, though). However if you decrease recharge time for 10%, you get 11.1% better recharge...
Anyway, don't use batteries, apart from oversized (like large on cruiser/hac and medium on frigs)
--------- Boost caldari. It will reduce whining on forums due to the fact: 45% chars are mostly caldari specialized. |

Cap rechargers are always better than Cap batteries for pure recharge on a BS.

For a battleship set up for PVE I would use rechargers only.
Oversized batteries are pretty decent, but usually oversized armor plates are used instead. Batteries are nice on Cov Ops too, to increase max warp distance.

different slots On the other hand, grid means one or the other usually.

I agree with this whole-heartedly. Grid permitting, and I arrange it to be so, a cap injector is only one slot compared to filling all your slots with rechargers. Slots are just as valuable as grid or CPU. Only using one slot to deal with capacitor issues leaves me far more mids to improve my combat effectiveness. Those mid slots are then used for Omni-directional tracking links, drone navigation computers, painters, etc. that allows me to complete the missions faster, thus reducing my time on mission, and time to tank.

Indeed. Its possible to create some very cool setups. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |
