I hear a lot about how tengu's are the best, but i like minmatar! and its what I'm skilled into.
For example a Tengu (I hear) can solo some c3 wh sites. Could a Loki?
What are they used for/ what should i use them for?
I know this isn't really a nebbish question, but I still feel like a noob :D |

Actually it is an extremely noob question both do well but they each have niches so it will depend on what you use it for. Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if your in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post |

The Loki performs pretty well at a variety of tasks.
Its main use is linked to the Loki Electronics Systems - Immobility Driver subsystem, which provides enormous boosts to the range of stasis webifiers. This makes it an exceptional support ship that can control the range of an engagement quite well.
It performs acceptably (with a different fit) in solo PVE, solo PVP, but it is as a 1-2 of support ship in fleet activities (both PVP and PVE) that it truly shines.
As for soloing WH sites: Any strategic cruiser or heavy assault cruiser can solo C3 sites. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=346564 - a proposal to overhaul the Logistics skill https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. www.minerbumping.com - ganking miners and causing chaos |

Loki is underwhelming
Its E-War sub system grants it less Mid-Slots than the other 3 races (they recieve bonus mid slots in E-War configuration, loki doesnt). This leave it useless as a shield tanking boat when it wants to use E-War.
It's an OK gang ship due to it's high HP pool, but otherwise it's not all that great sadly. |

Refer to this recent thread which is related.
Take note that T3s are likely to be significantly changed in upcoming re-balance passes. www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com

It is good enough. Level 4s are not demanding. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=346564 - a proposal to overhaul the Logistics skill https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. www.minerbumping.com - ganking miners and causing chaos |

It's low DPS with poor projection making it really bad for missions. Yes, yes-áI am. Thanks for noticing.

for PvE, all shiny ships are largely wastes of isk. PvE is extremely easy in any T1 hull of appropriate size, so going with shiny hulls just makes PvE slightly faster/more AFK (boring). Shiny ships just take longer to justify their cost, and are loot pinatas for gankers. There is no solo PvE that can't be accomplished just fine in ships that cost a fraction of the isk.
For PvP, the Loki is a fine vessel. We use them both for boosting and webbing roles along with a variety of other ships, all with their own specific roles to fill. They are of course pricey to fly, but no more so than any other T3 that is often in the same fleet. As a core DPS ship, there are better choices. But in a balanced fleet, they are great at allowing other ships to do their jobs better- such as scoring hits with railgun fitted HACs or T3's.
You're asking the wrong question to start with. And if you don't know the basic sort of information I've only scratched the surface of above- a half billion (or more) isk fitted ship is probably a poor choice to fly.
A T3, or any shiny ship for that matter, is only 'good' if you have both a use for it, and the skills to fly it well. |
