Dear Sabre Pilot,
I know you blew my ship into little pieces and then turned my pod inside out... But thanks for all the advice you gave me shortly after. Null sec is no joke, you taught me that. I'm not giving up though. I'll still make it out to 0.0, I'll just be sure to follow your advice this time and maybe, just maybe...I'll last farther than 2 jumps.

LOL! Man that was awesome! Totally worth losing that ship to get all the golden advice. Sabres scare me now....
Do any of you have advice for me before I fly back into 0.0? "I heard you know a thing or two, about a thing or two. Maybe we can come to an understanding..."

Don't get caught by Sabres
Seriously, just keep the ships and fits sane (rule 1 of EVE stuff etc) and try it.
A great way to get around the typical gatecamps is use WH connections from high-sec / low-sec to null-sec (direct or using a WH chain). Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

the chokes into null are usually the place where it all goes wrong .. after that there arnt as many camps as there are roams ..
if i was going to drop corp and go to null for giggles i would use the wh technique .. scan scan scan until i found one that went out somewhere .. hop through and bobs your uncle. I would probably fly cov ops frig to run around for giggles, or a recon if i wanted to shoot stuff .. or maybe an inty History is the study of change. |

I seem to recall the statistic of most solo kills in EVE being held by a Sabre pilot.
I've gone over 40 jumps in nulsec in a rookie ship. I finally got caught in a bubble, and made a stupid mistake after getting out of the bubble barely alive. |

But it's true that you should be alert for camps at the most vulnerable Nullsec entrances: chokepoints and systems that abut highsec. -á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á "LIVE FAST DIE." - traditional Minmatar ethos [citation needed] |

Have a reason for going.
Set perches above all gates.
Set safes in systems.
Fly an interceptor. |

It has been a few years, so I'm not surprised the crown has changed heads since. Killmail histories are also more complete now since being added to the API.
I wish I could find the notable blog about it that I'm thinking of. It described how the Sabre pilot had made bubbling into an art-form, and maximized every skill for the ship. He had thousands of kills with it at the time. |

High five dude!
If you want to avoid a gatecamp, take a look at the in game starmap and look at the statistics, "Kills in last hour". If the 0.0 route you've set yourself takes you through a bottleneck where there are a lot of kills, it's probably a camp.

DotLan is also pretty handy for this, particularly the most violent systems page
Never hold your farts in. They travel up your spine and into the brain, where they ferment. They then migrate to your keyboard via your fingers. That's where shiptoasts come from.

Even tho I can fly most any subcap, my favorite hull remains the Interdictor (usually a Sabre). It's the most fun ship to fly IMO, cheap enough to lose daily but utterly vital to any fleet that undocks in null sec.
Since their buffing, they are great little ships that can survive more than dropping a single bubble before dying. They very much used to be a one-shot wonder for most fleets. Many times if I came home at all in one, it was on fire with about 2% structure left. Never boring to fly bubble boats. Zip around the battlefield, working independent of FC orders, scouting ahead or behind the main fleet.....flying Dictors can be incredibly rewarding. Regardless of what fleet doctrine we are flying, I know that I've got a place at the table if I bring a Dictor.

Take an interceptor next time
Will not advise the fit as there's learning and lessons to be had *signature is not allowed on the EVE Online forums* |

I built out an Interceptor that aligns in under 2 seconds and is cap stable with the MWD at 4800m/s. The ehp and DPS are crap, but it's a work in progress. :) "I heard you know a thing or two, about a thing or two. Maybe we can come to an understanding..."
