Hello,
Just got back to the game, missed a couple expansions, need to grind yet some more level 3s.
There was a previous thread on the subject:
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=296282
I'm wondering if anything has changed in 2014 with either new hulls or rebalancing that has dethroned the Ishtar in terms of fastest level 3 grinder.

This is probably the latest work anyone has done on the subject of L3s. Stoicfaux previously crowned the Ishtar as well; now he's claiming the Machariel with warp speed bonus beats it. |

Oh awesome, I love his stuff.
As a side note I've been playing around with different Cynabal setups, the warp speed does help a whole bunch. |

Have recently been using an Ishtar to grind L3s and recommend it for a combination of fun and efficiency (mainly using Geckos or Gardes).
I'm sure Stoicfaux is right about the Mach overall but I fly a lot of L4s so it's nice to spend some time in something other than a BS.

I'm playing with his pretty much exact setup, with the MAR replaced by a DC, and it's pretty interesting. I'm still trying to get my bearings since it's a new platform for me, but for anything in the agent's system that doesn't require to just run and pick something in a container, it makes a lot of sense.
Still partial to a similarly built Cynabal for anything out of system, but we'll see. |

I used the Mach to grind level 3s for my alt standing... confirming it is now ridiculously fast. The warp speed bonus really helps... and since the Mach is OP for level 3, you can even put in one of the new warp speed mods into the lows for even fast warping. |

Mach isn't a BS! It's a "big bonded" (not fat) Cruiser on steroids!

I've been cruising thru Minmatar L3's in a Navy Vexor, so I'm sure it would be even easier in an Ishtar. "Blow it all on Quafe and strippers." --- Sorlac |

If you use a mach, I'd definitely try Dual 650's for extra tracking for all the smaller ships. Barrage if you need range. |

Your bog standard raven will beat the ishtar in isk earning. Rattlesnake is just nasty but the mach pips it to king of level 3 income. Join Bat Country today and defend the Glorious Socialist Dictatorship |

I'm having trouble seeing the raven beating the ishtar at lv3s, Rapid heavies don't look to be all that strong, cruise should work but they are still cruise. add in all sorts of missile volley overkill, and even extra volleys. the rattlesnake I can kinda see going either way, it has some very nice attributes, but some drawbacks. Where the Mach I can fairly easily see winning, turretboat awesomesauce!

RHML is rather good at this job. 60% of missions are done in anything from 0 to 10 vollies and the ones that need more than a clip have gates in them so by the time you land in the next pocket and target the ships your ready to shoot. Using a MJD, the crazy warp speed and a tractorbeam it a very effective machine. The rattlesnake is the same only death incarnate.
Honestly you can do this in any battleship and get great results and its a great idea for people training into battleships. Join Bat Country today and defend the Glorious Socialist Dictatorship |

Weirdly, noone mentioned the Proteus with its warp speed sub.
My lvl4 mission runner rail prot (without that sub) has about the same DPS curve as a Mach, multiplied by about 0.7-0.8 depending on ship size.
Since the sub only decreases tank (it would be overtanked anyway) and even increases tracking, you could have a mission blitzer with the warp speed of an interceptor using warp rigs with that sub.
Plus there's the option of using Spike to save time on extreme range spawns. |

A week later I can confirm the Mach is just ridiculously fast, except for when I pull missions that are 5+ jumps out for whatever reason. On this character I just decline them, to hell with standing, but since I'm also raising two other characters at a time I eventually have to either do them or wait out the 4 hour timer.
Since these far away missions usually involve weaker spawns, I'll be trying out a Tornado optimised for fast travel and pure gank, we'll see how it fares. |

Hum, Tornade is not all that faster at longer range, and opting for a full on glass canon setup is manageable but barely. Going to revert back to the Cynabal for more research but the lack of large guns might be an issue. |

The mids are still somewhat of a work in progress, but with 425s in the highs, 3 gyrostabilisers in the lows and a Gecko I put out about 525 dps with average-high skills. As I said I'm not super satisfied with the mids, and I'll probably have to put a CPU upgrade in the lows, but this thing zooms around like crazy. |
