Does anyone know of any published data about how many people run missions and with which corps? IGÇÖm assuming the major faction navies, prolly lead by Caldari, top the list with Sisters of Eve also somewhere up there also, but I do not recall seeing any stats on this.
My interest is primarily hisec lvl4 security missions.
If there are no published stats IGÇÖd value educated-guesses from folk with way more mission expertise than I (now) have. In case youGÇÖre worried my intentions are honourable. IGÇÖm not looking to use this info for mission-runner ganking or anything similarly nefarious. Check my background if youGÇÖre still worried. I am not above ganking but make most of my eve income from integrity-based efforts GÇô IGÇÖm entirely honest and reliable.

Longer-time vets can give you better answers than I, but here's what I have experienced (or wish I had):
SOE is probably the most popular and also the most prone to ganking.
The Navies are all popular.
BUT. I wish I had concentrated my L4 missioning on the 4 corps that gave out L4 Epic Arcs. These would be:
Minmatar: Brutor Tribe Gallente: Impetus Caldari: Expert Distributiion Amarr: Ministry of Internal Order
Because I didn't think ahead, now I'll have to grind standings for these corps to get the L4 Epic Arcs.
This answer is not directly responsive to your question, but I hope it sheds some light on the situation. |

Thanks, and a very good point that you raise. Unfortunately, like you, many people probably do not become aware of those lvl4 epic arcs until they've committed somewhat to a particular NPC standings direction. I certainly had to do an awful lot of amarr and caldari rehabilitation (tyvm deMichael Crimson's guides) when I wanted to be able to run all those arcs.
I will add those corps to my list though ... good advice. I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |

The one time I did major mission grinding to gain standing, it was so I'd have a place to establish jump clones (I didn't know about the jump-clone service corps at that time, and I didn't have any access to null). In my case, it was Wyirkomi Peace Corps.
The industrial corp I was with at the time was also grinding standings in order to minimize industrial tax rates with Sukuuvestaa. I took my sideline because Sukuuvestaa didn't have any cloning services.
Basically: there are (or at least were) a number of reasons to grind standings with an NPC corp. "We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." - Kurt Vonnegurt |

Level 4 missions grinding for ISK and standings can be very monotonous.
One day you'll end up with several good missions (over 6hr bonus window) and another day have loads of short and easy missions.
On an alt I did mission grinding for the purposes of getting standings for placing a POS in hisec, and now that alt can access any level 4 mission agent for that faction.
My advice would be to pick a system with a few level 4 security agents within a 5 jump radius of somewhere. This way you can move around and still do level 4's if you reject two missions within 4 hrs.
You'll also find that you'll do the same mission over and over again, Damsel in distress is a popular one in my experience.
As for good agents, I don't think that there are any with regular good missions, it's all down to how many are in system and how many are actually doing the missions.
One time I had three 6hr+ bonus window missions, the good sort, in a row and that's never happened since.
Pick an agent for a NPC Corp with a faction and then stick with that one.
I'd go for Caldari Navy as that will give you good standing in Jita trade hub.
Good luck and fly safe. |

Basically
1) Caldari and Gallante Faction Navies, Brutor Tribe, Emporers Family all give good standings for trading at their respective major hub each but are pitiful for ISK/LP conversion (around 3 mill ISK for 5000 LP) which matters a lot at higher levels. Forget Hek their corp sux.
2) SOE are consistently popular because they give reliably good mid range ISK/LP returning 10 mill ISK for 5000 LP. Sisters prices rarely move much. Core probes float around 40 mill give or take a five mill for example.
3) Thukker is a consistently high LP corp but is not popular for standing reasons.
4) There are a batch of corps that give very high ISK/LP ratios but it varies from week to week, requires you play the market and if tooo many people run the same corp the prices crash.

Republic fleet is decent if you run for Minmatar, decent LP shop with the RF Gyrostabs, Webs, Afterburners etc.
It's been a while but I can't remember you could get those with Brutor Tribe. |

Sisters of EVE.
Whatever you do do not do navies, their LP sucks as they are in the same LP store branch as FW corps and FW puts out a LOT more LP / h than L4 missions in hi sec do. So as a result navy LP isk/LP conversion ratio sucks. For example, I can do ~80 000 LP per mission on a minmatar FW farmer alt in stealth bomber. I can do around 5-6 of these per hour (shes not max skilled yet) including travel time.
If you for some reason can not do a sisters of eve do one of the other two LP store branches (exploration or industry) as these have few items not found in FW/Navy store (like for example the 5 run ballistic control BPC for caldary "industry" branch). These usually do not offer as good isk/LP conversion ratio as sisters of eve but are usually a lot better than just cashing in in implants/ammo in navy LP store (which is btw a "combat" branch of the LP store). Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

tbh I never really paid much attention to how popular an NPC corp was
I just looked over the agent finder tool for systems with more than 1 Level 4 agent since the agent rebalance of 0x .. there aren't that many, but there still some
many of them are classed as 'unpopular' because there are no fancy probe launchers or implants in the LP store but because they are unpopular, there are far fewer gankers or mission invaders in those systems
popular means more competition for those fancy LP store items popular does not necessarily mean best |

lol, me neither usually.
I'm helping an alliance colleague setup a business supporting some of those mission runners, among others, and wanted to try work out where to best direct our initial efforts. FW I believe he already has covered.

I'd skip out on the navy corps as said their LP is horrible, as it competes with FW lp directly. Most of the other corps have fairly decent lp in comparison.
SoE is great as there are no tags involved. I have to guess that a crash in SoE lp is coming at some point, but no idea when that will be. You can trust me, I have a monocole |

Depending on how many lvl 4 missions you're gonna run I would suggest to run the epic arcs, you can run them every three months, providing better isk then lvl 4 missions because they don't give LP but on top of that they provide a high value item at the end of the arc.
Gallente - Black Eagle Drone Augmentor +/- 170 mill Caldari - Hyasoda research lab +/- 270 mill Minmatar - RSS core probe x 10 +/- 10 mill Amarr - Imperial Navy Noble implant +/- 180 mill
The chains are rather long and Im able to run them in succesion and gives some nice isk and standings and are more fun then just grinding lvl 4's imho. |

ah ...
Well there are websites around that have stats on things like NPC rats killed I believe.
What you need i spopular and away from a major hub. Lanngisi comes to mind, it is very popular as its a 0.5 sec SOE lvl IV agent but there is no nearby losec.
It is 2 jumps from Hek but Hek is more like a supply hub anyway. Prices in Hek are random and almost as crazy as the locals. |

lol, i do love it how forum postings tend to morph from what someone asks to what others want to talk about :-)
All the same thanks. No doubt there will be a decent intersection between what you all think are the best corps to mission with and what people are actually doing. Yes, NPC kills (as in DOTLAN) can provide implied answers to my question ... sort of. I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. The best L4 agent (and corp) are the ones where you can mission without any risk of someone coming to gank you.
SoE l4 agent missioning zones are a ganking heaven, at example. |
