I used to love flying the 'sader a few years back.
But looking at the changes recently it looks like it has had its hay day and it's crow/malediction time.
Is there any ways the sader isn't outdone by other ceptors/slicer now? :( |

Unfortunately the glory days of the Pulse Crusader are long past. It can still do the trick, but other ships do it better. It can sorta brawl with conflag and an AAR but again, other ships do it better. |

Bummer.
How goes the other laser only Amarr platforms or do I have to spread out to drones/missiles as well? (I will be but currently only specced for lasers)
I used to love the Tormentor/Arbitrator on a previous toon. |

Try the Navy Slicer. It works better than the old Pulse-kite Crusader. The only problems with it are high sig-radius and capacitor.
The Tormentor is quite good now. Basically it is what the Punisher SHOULD BE; a close range brawler with a solid tank. It has enough mid-slots for full tackle and prop-mod, low-slots for a decent tank, and two drones for supplemental damage. Its caveat is that it is slow.
The Arbitrator is a little weird these days. It is a bit lackluster for a drone boat (the Vexor is MUCH more beastly) and there are a lot of smaller, cheaper options for E-war. However, it can act as decent "heavy" E-war support for a medium sized gang. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

The Punisher could be good if it had another mid. The issue is in FW low sec most of your fighting happens in plexes and so you should be aware that you will start most fights scrammed and webbed. The issue is that with two mids you have to lose one of three critical mid slots.
Drop the AB? Other ships do what they will with range, either force you to use scorch and out damage you at range or come in close and out track you since laser tracking isn't great.
Drop the scram? No way to hold target on grid and if you do face an MWD ship that can match you for damage projection, then it's been nice knowing you and you don't have an optimal bonus.
Drop the web? Against any ship that has a web the situation gets very similar to the lack of AB scenario.
Shame really because the Punisher tanks like a champ otherwise, just doesn't have the tools to do much with it. The Vengeance is pretty solid but is not lasers. The Slicer definitely works like a Crusader used to but is pretty much restricted to kiting because 2 mids. That being said it is pretty good at it. I do sometimes use brawling Slicers in small frigate gangs because 5 lows and strong power grid can get it an outstanding tank and as Slicers are nearly 100% MWD fit people love to stick around to catch them as they land in FW plexes, so you can get people to fight it. A 2/3/5 or 3/3/4 Slicer would make my day though. Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification. |

And for cheaper, just run a meta....3? and not spend 9 mill on a DCU. -Scissors is overpowered, rock is fine. -Paper |

Stacking penalties Killed the 'sader years ago. 2x TE and 2x Locus rigs gave it 20km Opti with Scorch... that was amazing.
Now it's basically identical to the Slicer in terms of piloting style, but the slicer is just *better* and cheaper. Plus the new HD models nerfed it's cool red-fins of awesome.

That fit has 0 CPU left. IFFA is needed unless you buy a CPU implant, which means you can't run a damage implant.

I run a similar fit, but with an ANP instead of the OD.
Its a great little ship for separating tackle, the key with the 'Sader is the approach, you want to overshoot past your target and end up in outer scram range, that way you can leverage your additional range and deal with your mediocre tracking. |
