I'd actually recommend heading down there sometime. I was privileged to be able to visit the Kaalakiotas before a titan fell on them, but there's plenty more places on Home that are worth the visit. It's a big planet. Even if you're not a spiritual person, it's nice to feel some kind of connection to the place. Meh. I never particularly liked my home town, so my nostalgia for Caldari Prime is fairly limited. I used to visit family, but after my father passed that motive has been absent. |

I got hitched in the Kaalakiotas. It was definitely an experience. "You let one of them go, but that's nothing new is it? Every now and then a little victim is allowed to escape; because she smiled, because he's got freckles, because they begged. And that's how you live with yourself. That's how you slaughter millions." I can understand that sort of connection, but as a born and bred spacer, I doubt any dirtside location holds much for me other than several thousand new pathogens and weird fauna. I trust all my inoculations, but I can't really see myself coping well on a planet without tightly controlled atmospherics and life support systems.

I totally understand where you're coming from, Otsito. I've only been dirtside about half a dozen times in my life and things like natural gravity, fresh air, plants that grow wherever they like and weather that does whatever it wants... it can all be a bit overwhelming!
But there is also beauty that would make your heart bleed; have you ever seen a rainbow or a snowfall? Truly wonderous.
And the fauna is scary at first, but grows to be fascinating... magpies, carabou and even those pinguns are amazing, as long as you keep a respectful distance.

Flightless my bum. Why would a bird be flightless?! That right there is proof of shenanigans of some sort, possibly (but not limited to) freakish genetic manipulation by evil madmen or quite simply the evolutionary result of a predilection for running down your prey by foot or some other psychotic desires. I don't count something that can easily stab it's beak through my stomach without jumping to be small either.
And they swarm!
Last time someone linked pictures of those freakish things here I had to go have a session in my cuddly wuvvy bear pit to stave off the hysterics. Dirtside is freakin' insane. Ponguins. Proof that there either is no God or that he's absolutely insane. Prime Node. Ask me about augmentation.

Veikitamo Gesakaarin wrote:Diana Kim wrote: Now, if you would start thinking logically yourself, you would realize that part "accountable to few people" signifies coverage of the statement, and, obviously, these "few people" aren't authorities in the State.
However, unlike outcasts as yourself, there are still many peoples who hold their citizenship papers and still serve the State and not their little egos. When you hold citizenship paper, it makes you accountable to the corporation that issued the said paper, and thus you will answer to laws of the parent corporation as a paper holder.
Actually, both my corporate citizenship and clearance documents are issued by Kaalakiota Corporation. I am only authorized as a citizen of the Caldari State when I issue specific requests for such recognition, usually only when I am required to enter a Kaalakiota corporate enclave whereupon it is reinstated for the duration of my time spent within such territory. In all other cases as a capsuleer operating under the legal jurisdiction of CONCORD and the DED my Kaalakiota Corporate Citizenship remains rescinded as per issued clearance documents by Kaalakiota. As a CONCORD-DED regulated capsuleer I would exist only in the Caldari State as what is in effect an individually incorporated limited liability corporation registered to the SCC. As such: 1. I can only be charged with treason under the Kaalakiota corporate criminal codes at a time and place when I am reinstated as a Kaalakiota citizen on Kaalakiota territory. 2. In my operations as an SCC registered corporation under CONCORD-DED regulations I could hypothetically be brought before the Caldari Business Tribunal. I cannot however be charged with Treason as a corporation as it remains a criminal charge under Megacorporate criminal codes not the Company Law of the Caldari State. Upon such elaboration, my earlier statement that accusations against a Caldari capsuleer of treason are diminished to the point of being laughable I believe still remains valid. Because a Caldari capsuleer granted their clearance documents is legally not an individual or corporate citizen liable to criminal prosecution as such. But only hypothetically as a company of which, "Treason" forms no part of CBT Law. Even in the scenario in which a Caldari capsuleer may be legally charged with treason under a Megacorporate criminal code this would have to involve their reinstatement of corporate citizenship, while being on corporate territory and the charges brought forward by an authorized corporate officer. Since no CONCORD-DED capsuleer on the IGS is empowered to act on the behalf of a Megacorporation as a member of a police-investigative or criminal prosecution section then yes, any accusations or allegations of Treason remain as I said, the province of personal opinion devoid of any real or actual authority. You are saying "Caldari Capsuleer" a lot while talking about your persona, whether "Caldari capsuleer" isn't applicable. Caldari Capsuleers serve the State, if you don't serve the State, you aren't Cadari capsuleer, but just a Capsuleer. Well, if you want to emphasize on "Caldari", then it would be a capsuleer of Caldari descent.
As for charges in treason, yes, Capsuleers are hard to put under tribunal, while they legally stay only as capsuleers. There are, however, inherited from Caldari Navy corporation military laws for wartime, that should be applied to Protectorate pilots as well.
If supposed traitors don't give up themselves for the process, or to detain them doesn't seem applicable, the usage of deadly force is allowed.
/
For those, not acquainted with this, I'd like to add, that this doesn't untie hands to officers, allowing to blame anyone in treason and shoot them. Because after that officers themselves are put under tribunal, and if the tribunal finds out that supposed traitor didn't commit treason, then the officer will be executed for murder and exceeding one's commission. This means, before naming someone a traitor you must be completely sure that y and you are putting your own life at the stake to stand for your word. |

Holding territory. Besides, it's nice to slip in, goose the Feds and slip out, leaving burning wreckage behind us. I'd say it keeps them humble, but that's really not a feasible goal at any point. The original objective - which I suspect remains - was to colonise and exploit it as the fourth sovereign region of the Caldari State.
Given that CONCORD seemed to consider the State's claim to that region valid enough to accept it as our sacrifice into the CEMWPA, I don't see why that objective would change. Black Rise belongs to the Caldari, no matter what the current front lines of the cereal box war say. Tell that to the dead. It really didn't take long for us to realise that if taking and holding space was impractical then charging the Feddies and their pets rent for it was quicker, didn't require defensive deplexing and was better money.
