Last ship balancing / Iteration happened on the Kronos release last June, it balanced the Pirate Faction Ships, added Mordu's Legion ships and the Prospect and also rebalanced the T2 Industrial Ships.
Nothing on Crius.
Just some tweaks on the Ishtar, and even smaller on the Muninn and Eagle...

imho rebalancing should have been finished 1 year ago, back in the day when we had 2 expansions per year they only rebalanced a few each time, which was alrady too little.
Couldn't they rebalance the Black Ops in Cruis? it's just 4 ships ffs !
And now that Hyperion has some stuff with Wormholes It'd be the perfect time to rebalance the T3s...
For feks sake... its been years since people has been complaining about titans being broken, and i still remember the departed Soundwave saying that they had some ideas on T2 titans and only 2 BPCs to be abailable at all times... and that was more than 2 fanfests ago xD |

Because testing every variable of a ship takes time and does not happen overnight? Or how about, "coding is much harder than you think and 'simple stat changes' usually require some degree of effort to track down and modify without breaking other bits of code." Or maybe the DEVs are working on multiple projects of equal importance at the same time? Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

Confirming this.
Bizzaro historical documents do show that CCP tests things at length before releasing them. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'Hodor'. |

Well they did promise us some work on BLOPS ships a while back, not this recent fanfest but the year prior.
They indicated that the expanded jump range and reduced fuel consumption was just a temporary fix until they could look at it closer.
In fact I believe they had blops changes listed ahead of everything in Kronos and Crius and that was over a year ago, so don't hold your breath. |

I'm gonna go with the notion that Fozzie and Rise aren't the only ones working on this stuff and when they work on something it's not the one person sitting in a corner thinking "how do we make this better?". It's probably each person on the team is in charge of a specific ship or category of ships.
- First they come up with a design goal, or in the case of tweaking an already rebalanced ship they make sure to review what the original goal was - They then go collect data from the logs from the past few months as see how well the goal has been met.
They're probably in various stages of these first two steps of the process every day as they track the many different ship classes.
- Depending on the release schedule and existing plans they either pick to revisit a ship class or to continue down their list of untouched classes (like recons and blops) - They evaluate how close to their design goal the ships are so far and come up with solutions. - Solutions are presented in a meeting. - Solutions are tweaked based on that feedback. - Solution presented again - Solution approved - Solution presented to community - FeedbackLoop.exe - Sisi Testing - FeedbackLoop.exe - Release
And besides all that it's my understanding that Fozzie is the one that did the majority of the Wormhole work. If anything Rise seems like he's slacking, but if he has a supporting role on the WH work and the handful of ship changes they're making then he's prob been busy too.
For all we know they're working on the rorqual changes right now in the midst of the changes that are coming, they just aren't ready to reveal anything yet. The Drake is a Lie |

Well, i dont know... i remember listening to some csm guy saying that they where talking to ccp about making black ops to allow covert ops, bombers, force recon, blockade runners and cloaky t3s to refit with them... and some other nice stuff with them.
They've made a wonderful job with the marauders, there are lots of new mechanics and features that are just amazing and the black ops are among the ones that need the more love, because theyre basically only used as bridging ships...
I also remember this streaming more than two years ago where Foxfour and Soudwave where talking about other rebalancing they had in mind, SOundwave said that the T3s also needed love because they where intended to be versatile but they turned to be only to be really used in a couple of combinations, he said that the Etana was very interesting ship and since then the cloaky community has been using more and more cloaky t3 as logi but the repair would need a lil' bit more range, not something exagerated but definetly more than 9km...
So where did this fall?
I also remember from that same streaming Soundwave saying that the intention with the Titans where that they where super exclusive, and now "everybody" has a titan, so they where planing on making sort of T2 titans that there would only be 2 or 3 at the same time in a form of BPC drop but they where still thinking about it...
You guys might also remember that the people that use to fight with capitals often say "titans are broken", i've been hearing this for years now... and im just concerned.
As i previously said, theres no need to rebalance lots of ships each time.
I'm aware of how it works, im a commercial diver, former sysadmin, and when designing networks, i thought it was the job that had the more beforehand planning, but just install some pipes at 30 meters has much more planning than designing a network... so, do you think that rebalancing 4 ships would take more than 6 weeks?

heh either way it is still loads better than when they used the CCP's Modified Sledghammer to balance things seemingly at random and with no predictable schedule.
I do think they could do more on the rebalance side, however they historically tend to leave things the way they are and try and let the players come up with solutions. which players tend to do a good job, having CCP move in more often is generally a good thing imo. You can trust me, I have a monocole |

Other than a serious need to address the Ishtar, the real elephant in the room concerning ships is Capital Ships. Rebalancing has been going on for years across the board and frankly until they start introducing new ships and ship roles (which will create inherent problems that will need to be balanced) things are pretty good. The situation with capitals could be fairly extreme and involve some code writing, and will most definitely be related to how the next generation of Sov mechanics rolls out, so it makes sense that the needed capital balance will come later rather than sooner.
To me it looks like things are on schedule and proceeding nicely. With all the whining about caps and sov the WH and high sec changes in Hyperion may seem a bit unwelcome, but frankly, it looks to me to be a program of paying attention to all aspects of the game as befits an organized scheme of progress. Given that they player base's concern over sov and caps will involve some seriously major stuff, probably already being worked on behind the scenes, the unexpected Hyperion changes seem fairly well-timed.
Don't call Fozzie lazy, man. The guy takes way too much crap. |
