I remember graduating from the University of Caille as a pod pilot. My first up close and personal view of the Gallente Federation's Velator...talk about disappointment. The MinMatar's ships are so much cooler.
I quickly tired of the tedium of mining for paltry rewards in high security space. That occupation is designed for the meek pilots who in the older days would have sat behind terminals timidly asking for another dose. Then they'd go home to their boring wife and kids.
But lowsec, that's another story. Yesterday I pulled in 2 million ISK kiddies, on a single days work. I've been working out of an imicus, but as soon as I set up an industrial and container, I'll be using something a little stronger to mine into a can.
Sure, I've lost ships. Two of them. Podded once. That's a weird experience let me tell you. But heck, in one haul I pull in the cost of a new ship, and in two, I cover my initial costs. After that it's pure profit. And profit, as far as I can tell, is what a pilot's life is all about.
Some things I learned quick, like jumping directly to a gate to avoid the people who would take what's yours and make it theirs. Other things I haven't figured out yet. Guy who podded me had me warp scrambled before I even saw him in my overview. No idea how he managed that one.
I don't know that I have the most profitable business, and certainly not the most carefree, but it makes cash and gets the heart pumping. And any day I can stick it to the local powers that be, parasites that they are, is a good day in my book.

Your endeavours are well admired. Hard work pays off dividends, especially if you are able to afford a profitable slave.. I mean workforce.

You risk a lot by mining in low sec space, where the Concord ships are long left behind and your protection is a sparse few sentry guns. That's the realm of the hunters and stalkers. Thy prowl looking for people like you, but I'm glad to hear you're lasting out there. You're a braver pilot than I. ----- "Boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past" |

I mine low sec in a Retriever. It's very doable, precisely because everyone thinks it's so dangerous.
After all, since it's so risky, no one would do it, so no one is looking for ninja miners. :)
It also helps that I named my Retriever "YaRR". At least I think. :P

You're pathetic.

And that's pathetic too. At least stand and fight like a Caldari...

That's good work, Draven, but you'll do much, much better by getting set up with a corp in really good space and going on multi-hour mining ops with high end ores.

It is a good way to start. But with decent cruiser skills, going into true 0.0 sec. Every BS rat you pop gives you 950K-1.7M not counting faction spawns. Combat is the best part of EVE in my opinion. Although I personally prefer PvP. |

Indeed, Herko.
To the OP:
Profit for capsuleers is not the end of the journey, my brother. Accepting your immortality will lead to a better understanding of greater and more fulfilling ventures. Nothing can quite compare to the freedom a pilot experiences on the frontier. The previous suggestion of connecting with a corp that will facilitate your venture onto the frontier is a good one.
