I do a lot of running around for R&D agents, boring, tedious but necessary.
One thing puzzles me though. Four of the agents are in Obray and at least one of them gives me a special delivery to Clacille every time I do the rounds. On the odd occasion all four will, that makes life a little less tedious but I wonder why they should all keep sending me to this one system when there are lots of others to choose from.
I would have thought that it would be a bit more random than that. |

Why do you believe that missions are random?
The mission pool is limited and the possible location per mission is also limited.

Mission destination changes primarily for load balancing reasons.
CCP (Team Gridlock?) either posted about this, or mentioned it on a dev blog. I primarily remember the player uproar when it was implemented.
Example: In my mission hub, I can run missions all day that are 1 jump. On a busy day, I'll start to see some 2 jump missions. During really high peak hours, I get some 3 jump missions. Far off-peak, like before downtime, I'll get mostly same-system (0 jump) missions. |

Not quite. The mission is a fixed one "The Special Delivery" Basically just a simple courier job.
Four of the agents are in Obray and there are a lot of systems that could be used Vay, Ranielles, Ekuenbiron, Eletta. Clellinon have all been used but Clacille is by far and away the most common, like I said almost every time I do the rounds of agents at least one will send me to Clacille.
To answer Tau Cabalander's point: When I do the run some missions will be 1-2 jumps, some 4-5, all during the one run. I take your point that load-balancing would play a part in an ordinary mission with shooting at rats, drones, missiles etc. taking up processor resources but these are simple straight in, drop the cargo and leave, all interactions conducted in-station.
I was just curious as to why a dead-end single station system should be used so frequently. |
