Evening all,
I've had this idea rolling round my head for a while.
Would people use a service which allowed you to list contract opportunities for bulk trade, in the same way that the bulk trade lists do?
When you have some things that you wish to sell in that fashion you:
- Log onto the site.
- Enter the items (probably with a cut and paste to make life easy)
- Pick minimum batch levels and sale prices
- Wait for people to contact you.
When someone does contact you, you can mark particular items as sold/reduce the quantity, so they stop showing up on an offer, and people stop bugging you about them.
As a buyer, you can list all the possible opportunities, filtered by date, item type, location, seller, seller age. You wouldn't receive notification that a particular thing had shown up (I don't want your emails) so you'd just have to look at it every so often.
Worth making? Yay, nay?
In all likelyhood, it'd be a free service, as I can't see it being particularly complicated to do, or high load.

The problem is just like the mailing lists some people don't keep it updated.
I'm pretty sure someone tried doing this before but didn't really work out. |

People would abuse the hell out of it. Post stuff they don't have to manipulate the price, alts, duplicate entries all over the place, trolling, scams etc. Keping it clean would require a lot of babysitting. |

The price isn't really that manipulable, as it's just a setting by the player. It doesn't adjust the jita prices (which I'd plan on being visible)
I'm thinking, mostly, it'd be a replacement for the mass mailing lists which are out there (and have that 3000 member limit)

Generally speaking I really like the idea but I'm affraid you might find the workload a bit much. Any way you look at it it will require babysitting (trolls/foul language/duplicate entries etc). One problem is that when in game I can easily click the item link to get market price/info etc. Outside of the game? a bit more difficult. Another problem would be tying the identity of the poster to in-game identity. You could end up "Mynna" selling minerals and "Chribba" selling titans at cost.
One idea off the top of my head is to make the "contracts" auto expire after a certain period of time. |

Actually, tying it to actual characters is dead simple for me
Eve now has SSO functionality, which is being run as a trial. I'm one of the people running it. When people log in, I get a character ID from CCP. It's not spoofable. I'd be requiring that, for people posting things. (Possibly looking at character age too, if I find it being spammed to hell)
As for the clicking, if you're accessing it using the IGB, then it'll be clickable and will open up the market data. If you're accessing with an OGB, I can tie it into Eve's market history (by Crest) and throw you over to eve central to get more detail.
Auto expiry would be simple. Though I'd probably have it set to just not display them be default.

Some sort of seller's rating system would be cool, so that it would be easy to see how dependable the contract probably is, or how smoothly one can expect negotiations to go.

while we're throwing around feature ideas:
1) favourite buyer/seller list 2) Block sellers/buyers/categories/quanity range/locations/price ranges etc 3) flagging contracts (watch list) 4) Ability for the seller to decrease the quantity and delete individual items in the contract until contract is empty. So if I'm selling 10 mil trit and sell 10k I can update the quantity. 5) contract templates If I sell the same stuff over and over again 6) Ability to cancel contract 7) separation between WTB & WTS 8) Ability to set a "home base" and system displaying how many jumps away from the contract. Also ability to screen contracst by far away from home base they are. I'd also be like to specify a system ex jita and search for all contracts within say 2 jumps. 9) Contract bidding. (Not sure if feasible)
cheers. |

Steve,
if you're bored and need something to do  how about this:
Put the new BPO to use and create a BPO evaluation site. Pilots provide their assets API, you grab the BPOs/BPCs from it and return en estimation of their value. And 'cause people are lazy, also show their fie-sale value (that's minus ~ 20%), which would be the amount for which they might be accepted as collateral.
Bonus points for creating unique URLs which the user might pass on to the potential money-lenders so that they get a rough first glance quickly.

It would be nice and could work, but perhaps would need a way to confirm authenticity through API. So you would have to provide an API to use the service, an API with wallet and inventory permissions.
If you list that you have 65,000,000 Y item for sale, it will automatically check your API every X hours to ensure the materials are still there. If you ever drop below having 65,000,000 Y items, your order is automatically removed from the site.
If you list you are interesting in buying X amount of Y items, which costs you 3.0bil ISK, the same thing applies. If you ever drop below 3bil ISK in your wallet, your order is automatically removed.
This would not stop all trolling but would help prevent it somewhat. i.e. you'd need huge amounts of mats to troll... |

Would be nice if it had the functionality of Doctrine Ships ( http://doctrineships.com/Home/Subscriptions ) - People posting contracts are vetted by site - Contracts are validated for content - In-Game browser allows you to launch the specific contract you are interested in.
code is available in github as opensource
I'm not related to the developers, but I use this service to buy ships. Something similar for bulk trading would be useful
Cheers

I would be interested in this although not everyone sells in Jita so have a location option would be good. I assume the prices would be editable after being put up.
Is it worth (or even possible) put a timescale on it, so that no contracts modified in a certain period are not shown when searching so that people donGÇÖt just upload a load of stuff then forget about it?
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

We've spoke about this a few times in scc-lounge, but I'd have to hunt down some chat logs to know what was said. I think a big problem would be getting people to use it over the mailing list, maybe it would've been easier just before the most recent switch.

This.
With separate ratings for 'honesty', 'speed', 'item as described' and 'friendliness', like how Ebay has ratings for 'communication', 'postage speed' and the like.
I look forward to using it on this character, and abusing it on untraceable alts.
Edit: Steve, not sure if you are allowed/willing to do this, but can you disclose if being a CSM rep imposes any rules against you being dishonest in dealings with other players that are set up on forum posts where your CSM tag is visible? You may have an unfair competitive advantage over any future competing service if CCP mandates you being honest and enforces that mandate. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=366607 - Gank incursion runners, win prizes! Nope. CCP don't enforce anything on me.
I'm free to lie and cheat and steal. It might harm my relationship with them, but there aren't any additional rules, other than 'Keep to the NDA'.
I don't get to say 'CCP says you can trust me', or imply anything like that, as it'd be a breach of the EULA.

I run a simplified version of what you are proposing, i buy items in bulk that i then ship to somewhere and sell for slightly more.
what i do is: i have google docs, i make a page where people can see the prices in the various pickup stations where i buy stuff.
i have people use the spreadsheet on google docs, it spits out a price, they contract the stuff to me with said price, i accept the contract, move the stuff and make a small profit for myself.
since people are only able to write in the specified bits on the google doc and can't change anything besides what they are currently working on it is almost maintenance free, only thing i have to do is keep the prices updated and accept/doublecheck the contracts, well and of course ship the stuff/or redfrog it.
