While the Microjumpdrive is a wonderful tool in missions, and when the occasion calls for it, PVP - it makes no sense to always be a fixed max 100km jump every time the drive is engaged. If the same was true of a Warp Drive or a Jump Drive
So the idea here is, allow for shorter jumps to be chosen. By clicking the MJD module a radial will pop up around it, specifying a min 25km, 50, 75 or max 100km jump in whatever direction your ship is pointing. |

It's a balance issue, not a fluff one. Deal with it. Being able to MJD around at any distance would be broken as ****. |

To be able to change the distance with every jump would be OP. But I agree that it would be nice to have different Jumpdistances. Maybe with META-Versions after Module-Tiericide? So you can fit a MJD with 80km, 100km or 120km with different Spoolup-timers to compensate |

It's mostly fixed because it would take away a ships speed advantage over another. It's mostly meant as either a GTFO option for slow ships, or a balls deep/into the mosh pit for those same ships. |

Maybe 100km is the minimum distance a jumpdrive will work and everything shorter will result in multiple pieces of your ship being spread out between 25 and 99,99km ... just sayin' -¦-¦ Are you sure your issues aren't elsewhere ?! |

But you thought about 25km not getting you anywhere right ?! And for the most important part, it can be shut down by a Scram. Modules and ships are balanced for PvP - if you have PvE on your mind, you can forget about it right now. They get often adjusted for PvE sure, but not if it breaks PvP - at least thats the underlying doctrine ,) Are you sure your issues aren't elsewhere ?! |

I asked for a 50km and 75km MJDs the day they went live because for most missions 50km or 75km is about the right range. As things are with the 100km jump you often have to make two jumps and triangulate the distance you actually wanted in the first place.
My ad hoc solution is dual prop, MJD + MWD. Yawn,-á I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really. |

This. Its an (unscrammed) get out of jail free card if stuck in a bad spot. Has to have a downside, fixed range is the downside. We can see it working as intended in AT. Some are working them to stay under the envelope of arena boundary breaking, others are.....basically jumping to disqualification all by themselves.
Pve rants, bring lr ammo, go full bore sniper/lr fit if inclined or use the time a 100km jump give you to rep/shield boost up get some cap regen and go for round 2. For the bs pilots mwd in a just a bit doesn't kill your cap as much. Fit that If need be.

Honestly thinking about it. What do you gain with a shorter or longer jump. Longer jump, you might as well jump away from the destination, then warp to it. Shorter jumps, you do the same thing but warp to 10 |

I've always thought the MJD should jump you a random distance.

As someone who loves using the MJD in PVP/PVE I can say it would be cool to have variable distances you could adjust, but as stated (kind of) before it would make the module a bit OP. The only way I can think of they could balance the OP issue is if they gave the MJD's new stats on energy consumption based on distance jumped too and a variable on spool time and reactivation time, it could be done but chances of seeing it are nil.
Different Meta variants seems a bit more plausible as something CCP would do. One great aspect of the variable jump distances however would be not always worrying about scenarios when the enemy see's your ship (BS, CS, BC) with a MJD bonus only attribute on it and just kites over 100km or just under. Just where you cannot drop on them and apply tackle. Dual prop is great but on many of the BC's for instance, your fitting get's really tight at that point, especially considering the MJD takes more to fit than the MWD. |
