I've been corp hunting for awhile now and have been primarily focusing on NPC-Null corps; they seem like a good way to get large-scale PvP without the constant red pen CTAs you see in a lot of Sov holding alliances. This last weekend I got on my combat character and did a 2-day stint with "Space Violence"; they are nominally associated with GSF but seem to do their own thing in Syndicate most of the time.
Things were looking good at first, everyone had their **** together and people were friendly and chatting on comms. It wasn't until the fleet went out that things got a bit weird. I was told beforehand that for the duration of the fleet, we would be addressing eachother with Japanese honorifics over comms and in text chat, as this "was a necessary aspect of the principles of E-Bushido". They gave me a wiki link to read up on and memorize the various terms and I thought "alright, that's a bit weird, but whatever." I messed up a few times and called the Fleet Commander Shave-chan instead of Shave-Sensei and he got a bit miffed, but largely they were pretty forgiving.
They only got stranger from there, though. I had the wrong bomb damage type for the SB roam and asked if anyone had shrapnel. Someone dropped 3 of them for me to pick up; I said thanks and they stuttered "It's not like I brought them for you, i-idiot". I said "I know, but thanks anyway. How much do I owe you?" They got even more agitated and told me it would "besmirch their good name to have a filthy pubbie give them money". They seemed angry but then they orbited me at 2.5k whenever we weren't in warp. One of the other fleet members ended every (english) sentence in "Dess" and insisted I do the same because it was 'more polite' (I refused).
At no point did I get awoxed, however, so that's something at least. |

That'll teach you not to corp-hunt in the role playing channels.

Anyway, to the OP... you've found a pretty interesting bunch, that's for sure. I haven't encountered anything similar so far in EVE. If they were kids/teenagers, their "rules" are completely understandable, but if they were somewhere closer to the average EVE player age, that's a bit creepy o.0 |

Those kinds of compromises are not the ones you want to make. Never do that. The first sign of such insanity, excuse yourself then get out of Dodge - fast. Don't tip your hand till you're well away. Then, use a whole case of mental floss and hope for the best. Anyone with any sense has already left town. |

People must really hate shooting each other if they hate CTA's. It's the concept of "we're kicking you from corp if you're online but not on this op", not "we have an op at this time and we would appreciate it if you were there".
We have stratops, which are the latter. We don't have CTAs. Enjoying the rain today? ;) |
