Greetings fellow capsulers!
I return to the EVE-universe after a longer period looking for some hints how to progress. What I've done so far is: I completed the tutorial missions back in 2011 and did a couple of PvE missions I got from agents. With a rifter and a thrasher plus around 20 mio. ISK I am stuck in Eram quite not sure how to proceed.
So... Please, can any of you experienced players willing to help drop any thoughts about how to continue? Am I supposed to carry on with the agent's missions? If so, is there a 'profitable' system/region to get there for mission runs? I don't have any PvP-experience and I'm kinda afraid to jump in the action, getting blasted to stardust on approach.
I am not really interested in the industrial of this game (yet) so I would like to do combat/transport missions, preferable in an assault frigate like the Jaguar, or explore the void in a cloaked ship... That is somewhere in the future as I probably will need much more ISK to buy/fit either of the ships.
So, any thoughts/ideas?

You might find mission PVE to be underwhelming if that's your sole focus. Still, start off with the Sisters of EVE epic arc (you can redo it by now if you already did it a few years back), as it should get you enough ISK for a cruiser. Then you can focus on L2 missions until you can afford a BC, L3 missions until you can afford a BS (with a good fit), and then L4 missions where the ISK starts to become more substantial. Lots of folks choose SoE for their ISK/LP ratio and I suppose their relative neutrality with the factions.
If you're really set on the PVE track then look up some Incursion fits and aim your skillplan to fly one of those. It will take some months, but Incursions can get you wacky amounts of ISK.
Ultimately, I would recommend joining a corp - perhaps one which is friendly to new players like EVE Uni. You can still focus on mission PVE if you'd like, but joining an active corp will open up a lot of different activities for you to try and corp members are generally helpful folk.
As for PvP, you will most certainly be blown up countless times as you start out, but cheap frigates are easy to replace and you'll learn with time. Being blown up is an important experience in EVE because it will happen to you on several occasions, especially if you hang around low-sec or null. Some people choose to use an alt slot as a FW pilot because it's good ISK and it's usually easy enough to find a fight, but it also has some serious repercussions in empire space. |

Thanks for the rapid reply, Jur.
I'm @ 20 mio ISK right now and own a Thrasher and a Rifter. I'd really prefer small frigates and already skilled to fly a Jaguar/Wolf so I would like to stick with those.
As for now, I think I only can do L1-mission with some 100k per mission. |

Hi, welcome back to Eve.
Since you've already completed a couple of the Career Agents, you might wanna think about completing the rest of them and as was previously stated, do the level 1 Sisters Of Eve Epic Arc - The Blood-Stained Stars.
That will give you time to train up skills as well as make some ISK while deciding on what you wanna do.
Good luck to you. May you have a long and rewarding career.

If you do end up joining a corp, you'll want to be near wherever they have their activities. Otherwise, pick an NPC corp to run missions for and find out where most of their agents are located. Some people prefer to make a trade hub their "home base" because of the easy access to market goods, but I would caution against Jita in particular because Caldari space is very populated and full of gankers. |

If I had to do it all over again, I'd join a rookie-friendly corp like Brave Newbies Inc. or other BRAVE corp, and start shooting other players ASAP.
There are other rookie-friendly corps too. They key is to find people you like, and that are active.
Even corps with entry requirements can be considered. Just talk with their recruiters first, as they can make exceptions if they think you'll fit in. |

I also suggest shooting other players ASAP.
NPCs have terrible AI and fighting them gets repetitive quickly.
Other players sometimes manage to have even worse AI, but most will give you memorable fights.
Ask anyone that's been around 'What's the most exciting fight you've been involved in in EVE?'. Even PVE specialists will usually answer with a PVP encounter, not their 15th Incursion Mothership kill.
As for how to find other players to shoot - I'll just let you in on a secret. In EVE, it is always legal to shoot members of your own corporation, even in high security space and even if they are not expecting it. In EVE, it is also always within the game rules to make promises to other players then break them. A particularly devious player might pose as a harmless rookie seeking a corporation for PVE, when what you actually intend to do is infiltrate the corp, steal everything you can, then shoot your new friends and blow up their shiny ships. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=366607 - Gank incursion runners, win prizes! Go out of your way to sample many different play styles and things to do, find something you truly enjoy doing or sounds amazingly awesome, then aim for that and go do it. There is no reason whatsoever in EVE to do something you don't enjoy, no one is forced to mine or run missions if you don't like it.
The trick is that doing something other than the obvious grind requires a few working brain cells and the willingness to put in effort, nothing more nothing less. Yes, yes-áI am. Thanks for noticing.

1. Go to Arnon IX - Moon 3 - Sisters of EVE Bureau and talk to Sister Alitura. She will make you busy and entertained for next few days. After you finish your job for her you can go Simela IV - Moon 7 - Sisters of EVE Academy and work you way up to L4 security missions.
Then put one jump clone in Apanake VIII - Moon 8 - Sisters of EVE Bureau, where you will make your money for PvP activities, and another jump clone to the any station on high sec / low sec border, where you will get your PvP fun. If you plan to join FW you will have to move to Lanngisi III - Moon 2 - Sisters of EVE Bureau instead of Apanake. |

I'm amazed so many of you bothered to put me on the right way. Thanks for your replies!
Well, "stuck" might be the wrong term, I was just not sure what to do next - that changed! For now I will continue with the agent's missions and keep an eye out for a corp. Just realized I am a member of a corp... Sister Alitura won't talk to me as I already finished the epic tutorial quests.
As for PVP... not sure if it makes sense to do it with a Rifter or the Thrasher. Probably, as they're cheaper to replace when destroyed. Then again, they're somewhere low in the food chain so it might become a carnage.
However, thanks again guys. Getting hands on the game's mechanics was less of a challenge than it is to find out what to do. Kinda. |

Rifters will perform better against armed ships (they are hard to hit when moving). Thrashers will perform better against unarmed ships such as shuttles, transports, mining ships and the like.
Thrashers can also kill pods in one volley even with a very cheap fit, which, if you are willing to break the law and suffer the consequences, is hilarious fun to do in highsec. Look for autopiloting pods, and blow them up. You'll lose your Thrasher, but you can do a tremendous amount of damage and potentially collect significant bounties. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=366607 - Gank incursion runners, win prizes! Heretron wrote:Just realized I am a member of a corp... Sister Alitura won't talk to me as I already finished the epic tutorial quests. Yeah, you're in a NPC Corp and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm in NPC Corp and I interact with lot's of other players in game.
As for Sister Alitura not talking to you : If it's been over 3 months since you last completed the Epic Arc then you can run it again. Easy way to check is to open your Character sheet - select 'Standings' section - select 'Liked By' tab - right click and select 'Show Transactions' on each of the 4 main Empire Factions (Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, Minmatar) and look for the mission name 'Dal Segno al Fine' which will list a completion date.
If the date is over 90 days then the arc is available. If the mission name isn't available then the Epic Arc hasn't been completed or it's been well over 90 days since you last completed it. Best option to do is submit a 'Support Ticket' and let CCP sort it out for you.
Good luck to you.
