Hi,
I recently started producing some stuff. I made a Spreadsheet to calculate Production cost and profit for some items (ammo mostly to start with). Right now I have only used material cost in my calculation, beacause that's what the blueprints give as information. But obviously the production itself costs something too. In the facility tab of the industry window I saw a tax of 10% in most facilities, but 10% of what? How do I include this cost in my calculations? And are there more hidden costs in production I should consider?
Thanks in advance |

10% of some artificially calculated global average sales value.
It's probably best to just manually add the cost for a single run and multiply by your runs and update this value if things change (system index, etc) |

Its the 10% station tax on the install cost, not the "adjusted base price" or as u call it the "artificially calculated global average".
I can only advice reading IndustryFormulas.pdf
Basically based on the system u are producing there is a "Install Cost" % to each job u install, this is based roughly on the BOM (bill of materials). I say roughly since the prices used come from the so called "adjusted base price", which u can only get using the Crest Api or eve-industry.org via the xml api.
Than additionally if u produce at a NPC station, those install cost is increased by 10% extra station tax and also depending on Team salary cost.
So "job install cost" is based on adjusted BOM or "base cost" and the "system cost index", which gets than increased again by NPC station TAX and team cost if used.
The "system cost index" depends on the average activity in a system, which is measured in time and is calculated against the global (including wormhole space) activity in eve for this activity. U can see the system cost index under industry on the universe map, where 0.01 equals 1%.
hope this helps |

It is possible to automate your spreadsheet, pulling down data from the EVE databases and from Eve-Central every day. If you're going to be a serious manufacturer it will save you a lot of typing in the long run! My current sheet takes several minutes to do this.
As explained in CCP blogs and other threads manufacturing cost is based on two factors - the "adjusted price" which is a global over the past month average and the "system index". On top of that NPC stations add 10% to the manufacturing cost.
You can find your current system index here: https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/blueprint/costindex.php
As a rough guide Manufacturing Cost will be not far from Raw material Cost * System Index * 0.011

The system indexes can also be downloaded automatically, if you want to handle the json feed.
I have a sample excel sheet on my site. lockfoxe has some functions to make it work with google docs. Woo! CSM 9! http://fuzzwork.enterprises/ Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |
