The only way I know to help new players is to give $ to Eve University or sell this character to 1 of them at a substantially discounted rate.
He could as easily go for 1 ISK as 50 billion.
Go HERE and place a bid then shoot me an email detailing how you would be THE ideal candidate.

For shame ...................... getting rid of a super old character ..................
If that was my character, I'd keep it and continue training skills for as long as the Eve Servers remained active. And if the Servers were still active when I'm on my deathbed, I'd include the character in a Will and give it to a family member with the stipulation that they do the same thing with it.
Which is what I plan on doing with this character.
Speaking of skills, I would have thought a character that age would have a lot more skill points. Either you've been training up another character or was unsubbed for a while.
Anyway, there's other ways to help new players, such as give them advice and direction on how to survive and progress in Eve. You know, have them be your wingman in game with you acting as a mentor, a big brother, etc.
Good luck to you.

DMC
This.
And it's even better then giving a new player a high SP character which he has NO idea on using those abilities (not to mention that every vet and their dog who saw this just rolled a temp account to get your character cheap).
Paint a turd gold, it's still a turd.
Same with new players and giving them huge amounts of SP, they will still be new players. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

I've made my pitch to you on the linked thread.
If you want to chat on TS/Skype to get to know who I am to ensure you're sending it to a proper home, it would be my pleasure.
Cheers.

I'll be honest with you OP...if you truly want to help new players (as opposed to a single player, such as myself), I would go ahead and liquidate the character for ISK and use those funds to buy up an armada of starter pvp ships for new players and/or give them to a trustee to administer it for these purposes.
On GD, there was an interesting thread about the high barrier to PvP for new players. A large battle chest, along with veteran guidance/support, might be a nice way to give back in the spirit of EVE - to further the pursuit of PvP.
I'm not sure who you would use as a trustee. All these guys look shady behind their sunglasses. |

You never really quit EVE, you just take a break!
The friend who recruited me into EVE had quit long ago. He had transferred his characters to an in-game friend so that they wouldn't go to waste.
Fast forward about 3 years.
My friend returns, and starts over, deeply regretting ever leaving EVE. After about a year or so, he runs into his old friend again, who gives him ISK to get back into the game. My friend being generous, splits the ISK between me, his brother, and himself. Later, the old friend would return my friend's original characters. No charge. One character was kept, as it had become a well-known name in EVE.
I'd happily provide a character slot, should you decide to ever return.
Good luck wherever you land! o7 |

Well, MMOs can be quite a time suck. If someone wants to break away, it's probably best to get rid of the character so he's not tempted to resub down the road.
