Im using a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 ti and I can run all graphic settings at "high". Everything looks gorgeous, there is only one graphic problem that is cutting down on the awsomeness a bit: edges in the structure of ships, particularly if they are metallic and thus strongly reflecting light, are broken into single dots of whiteness, and these dots are moving. Its an old kind of graphic problem Ive seen before and there is prolly a name to it, but I dont know it.
Anyway: the graphic driver allows me to change settings specifically for one program. Does anyone have an idea how to change them to improve EVE, graphically, and especially to fix the problem I described? |

Strange.
My first step would be hitting http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx and making sure you have the latest driver, of course.
After that - my second step would be loading up the "Nvidia control panel" and resetting every setting back to default. If you have been fooling around in there, there's a fair chance you have changed something that is causing this issue.
Assuming none of that works, you might want to make sure you don't have any third party apps running that are interacting with the GPU at all - you could be running into some issues there.
Hope this helps! |

Thanks DJ for your input. Driver is new, no third party stuff, but I just tried to reset everything...I mean its looking a tad better now, but the prob is not solved. |

Do you have HDR enabled? I've had it happen on the odd occasion on my old card (ATi 5850) and cycling that option on an off did the trick. Blessed are those that carry the Empress' Light; with it they destroy the shadows |

I doubt this is it. He has a newer and more powerful graphics card than I do, and mine is running HDR just fine. I have all settings on full myself with a 660 Ti and no drama. It sounds an awful lot like a conflict between anti-aliasing and HDR GÇö I know that some engines and some cards really dislike the combination, even to the point of outright disabling it because of the breakage that would otherwise occur. EVE doesn't really give an f GÇö it lets you enable them anyway and then you will have to deal with any mess that results. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

This effect is due to forced anti-aliasing from drivers, turn "Let application decide" on from the drivers. |

Turn off post-processing in the graphic options, see if that helps. |

Thanks all for your suggestions!
....hate to be difficult, but no real improvement so far: post-processing was off already, anti-aliasing stetting was already set to "Let application decide". I tried it with turning HDR off in EVE...hard to say, but I mean it improved things a tad bit, but not totally.
"Try to set driver to quality and check "
What you mean?
((I seem to be always unlucky with my graphic cards....the game Im playing for the last 12 years didnt allow me decent settings for five years and dozens of hours and consulting numerous experts didnt cut it. Compared to that this prob in EVE is very minor...but dont we all strive for perfection...;)) |

Oh, and a screenshot is here:

----the problem doesnt look as bad in a still, but in game these white bits on the edge are moving, which makes them kind of glaring. |

if you go into control panel, and open up the nVidia control panel.
in 3D settings, change the option in Adjust Image settings from "let the 3D application decide" to "Use my preference" and move that slider all the way to Quality.
Hit apply and restart EVE - that should help out a bit. If not, there is another place to set up graphics settings for EVE in that panel which I can go through when I get home. Blessed are those that carry the Empress' Light; with it they destroy the shadows |

lul 660TI is nearly twice the card of the 750Ti.
Even so it should max eve at 1080p easy peasy.
after letting application decide on AA, have you set AA to max? that's what you're missing for sure. Tell you what I do like though: A killer. A dyed-in-the-wool killer. Cold-blooded, clean, methodical and thorough.

Yeah, sometimes I fail hard at computers. I know how to put them together, but the particulars are beyond me.
I just assumed cuz his had a bigger number than mine swing and a miss at trying to look smart I guess. GÇ£Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonorable' and 'unfair'. Jam those ones first, and kill them last.GÇ¥ - Jirai 'Fatal' Laitanen, Pithum Nullifier Training Manual c. YC104 |

well if they would choose some sort of normal number scheme. :]
AMD cards are even more cryptic.

ZOMG! I was getting that same thing with the "new" EVE (re: WIS). My gf happened to build me a new boss hog computer, and I never gave it any more thought. However, I distinctly recall having run EVE fine for years, then all of a sudden THAT, and I hadn't touched a thing - honest. Anyone with any sense has already left town. |

OP, this is called shimmering and is not exclusive to EVE, though it is particularly noticeable just due to the fact that it's mostly spaceships (with relatively high specularity which is the term for the metallic sheen you're referring to) against a black backdrop.
To be honest, it's a tricky problem to solve. nVidia's new "Temporal Anti-Aliasing" is designed specifically to address shimmering. You'd need to force it in the nVidia control panel (and turn in-game AA to off).
FXAA will also pretty much remove shimmering but will also make your screen look like it has vaseline smeared all over it. eve is dying |

Tried this, but it didnt seem to change much. If at home you get more ideas, Id be glad to try them out.
