These kinds of events are ********. Nothing spoils the organic gameplay that makes EVE what it is more than scheduled and themed events with ******* prize giveaways. They're nothing more than theme park attractions. Is that why CFC was there with with multiple subcap fleets totaling over 1000 pilots? Possibly. Enjoying the rain today? ;) |

I actually suckered myself and my corpmate's into tagging along on this latest disaster thinking that maybe..just maybe things had changed after years of knowing full well that live events usually cluster**** into epic proportions...
Nope....nothing's changed...
Being fed 4 hours of soul destroying lag and throwing away 4 hours of my life on that debacle ( at 1st it was amusing listen to people on coms trying to get some dps down on that flying Turd ) It soon wore off tho , just hanging on thinking ok at least they'll be a shiny killmail to laugh over...
Seems like that has hit the fan too....
Dissapointing..

Yes and no. The kill of the Revenant itself is just ***** and giggles and not something for anyone to pin a medal on themselves for agreed, but all the additional content that was generated as a result of it, such as the massive gate camping before and after to get into the system, the huge volume of kills in the system during, and after, the event, and those who went and managed to survive at all is also content. And, to my mind, all that secondary and associated content is content of value and some meaning. It may have been precipitated by a planned, pre-arranged turkey shoot, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a whole lot of fun and skill to be had and exhibited surrounding it by those who participated or took advantage of the event. |

So, can CCP confirm that there will be no KM please? I will be unsubbing a few PVP accounts for a while in response. No point in chasing KMs if the system is broken. Limit player numbers in these event systems in the future please. I got in early, managed to get the job done and now get this. Starting to hate my favourite game. EVE-BET must be pretty upset. |

That's the thing about a sandbox we all have our different reasons for playing. Or not playing. And who said I whored? I got there early and did as much damage as anyone else there. And please, don't roll your eyes at me, its effeminate.

Fair enough, but is it really worth unsubbing your accounts? You sound like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum.

Killmails that involve hundreds to thousands of players always have been a tricky issue. Do remember, to be listed on the KM, you must have performed an action 15 minutes prior to it's death to have all your actions on that ship registrated.(with TiDi being at 10% it might be 150 minutes? not sure)
The event itself saw some over the top attendance, I doubted that CCP or EvE-bet expected such a high attendance (I suppsoe they expected a high attendance, just not a record-breaking one)
Till 2.2K people arrived in the system, there was no TiDi actually, despite all the fighting already going on. Till 3K-3.5K, TiDi was still manageable, it just went over the top crazy when it clawed close to 5K players in system, a crazy high number. Following that, kinks are to be expected.
No idea if a correct KM can be generated, but something might be purged from the combatrecords that should see the light once CCP is done with it.

I have 6 accounts stretching back to 2004. I said I would unsub some PVP ones.. The most direct way to let any business know they wasted your time is to not spend money there for a bit. It's called capitalism and it works.

Devin Wallace wrote:"--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------REDACTED TO PROTECT CCP'S REPUTATION----------------------------------------------------------- [/u]" basically, CCP would have to reverse their policy to generate a kill report retroactively, and then what would they say to the hundreds of people filing support tickets on a daily basis? They would have to actually ensure that kill reports were accurately generated every time which they apparently can not or will not do. The one positive aspect is that this particular kill report had would have had at least 3,700 pilots on it and hopefully they're all quite upset that they will not receive recognition for the hours of horrendous lag they endured and make it known to CCP.
Your idea that this is fairy land where if one thing happens then it sets law for all other things that happen there after makes me laugh, almost out loud. Young boy/girl/boygirl, this is the interwebs, CCP can do whatever they want, at almost any time as they see fit, especially given the words used in the EULA, so take your fair market trade ball and go home, this is Icelandic justice as they see fit, when and if they see fit..... Go with Bob, keep Him always in your heart. He is your Sword, Shield, and the Knife in your back.

*ahem* Firing over 600 torps at a supercarrier in a SB isn't "whoring". That's called "participating".
Edit: Side-note.... the only thing worse than KM-whoring people crying about not getting the KM they whored on, is sadpanda carebears minimizing PvP players' EVE experience because they think shooting other people's spaceships is "sociopath behavior"...

Problem with only including Top Damage and Final blow is what about the ECM applied or how about the interceptor pilot who holds the target down for several minutes while his buddies show up? Do they not deserve to be on the KM it is bad enough at times Logi Pilots don't get public recognition like KM's for their hard work in fights.
The KM system keeps people who are only interested in KM's playing the game buying stuff from people who play market games who order stuff from people who do manufacturing who buy minerals from miners and blueprints from the people who do R&D who buy stuff from people who do Data and Relic sites who buy their ships from people who do station trading and so on and so forth. As you can see KM's make the world of EvE go round. |

The thing is that this was a event that although not sponsored by CCP was backed in more than one way by CCP, for apparent reasons and benefits - atleast to what I and most others had heard. Given that, and the fact that the prizes are for certain actions ranked by a kill mail, CCP should make every effort possible to create or recreate a reliable report. A kill report generated by anyone other than CCP would cast suspicion on the event and whether the rewards were handed out in an appropriate manner. |
