what i've noticed is that in the past 2 patchs i've gone threw we've only added ships and no content (very few if any)
i for one would like to see planets being inhabitable, being able to get out of your pod and walk in a statoin and buy items granted you can still do it the old fashion way
maybe have a lounge for afkers.
the more ships there are.. the more overkill it gets
i want to see depth and what not
i know you people will come up with some good idea's Sig removed, please keep it within the 400x120 pixel and 24,000 byte limites, please email [email protected] if you have any questions - Xorus

It'd be nice, but what you're talking about is a whole other game with a good 2 years of development behind it. CCP said they'd like to make planets a part of the universe, and have mentioned being able to walk around inside stations, but it's a huge project that'll take a lot of time to complete.
So it's coming, but not for another couple years at least.

I don't understand why people want this sort of stuff. It doesn't really add much to the game just takes a lot of Devs away from some other content they could be developing. I am personally hoping we never get the ability to 'walk around' I don't really see the need for it. I would prefer if the Devs gave us more Tiers and more ships and more choices of things to do in space.

This is a ridiculous waste of dev thought-power just to satisfy those players who like to have a "toon" (whatever one of them is). Walking around in a station would presumably mean everyone has a unique character. i e using loads of resources which would be better used sorting out lag and adding new space content. The next logical step would be for them to have lasers, shields and guns and stuff, and before you know it we have everquest WoW in space.
They did it in Freelancer and it was one of the most irritating wastes of time ever.
I wish people would get it out of their heads that online games, in particular ones involving big spaceships, require a walking talking avatar that can do /dance emotes.
I think its a stupid idea. If I wanted a walking charater I would play WoW or one of the other 9 billion MMORPG-alikes out there.

why in hell do people want so much resources wastes on something which adds nothing what so ever to the game itself, except a frivolous avatar...which will have no real purpose but to placate people who want a dancing/singing/drinking/whatever rubbish toon. personaly i want those resources spent on making EVE a better game. not making a mini-WOW inside eve.
anyway im sure there will be plenty of new content in the kali patches. _____ They were monsters. They rode across the world we knew and brough terror, and death. Where they were, life ceased. They were without mercy. They were without fear - They were MASS |

I liked when I heard about the moving around in station. Not because I want to /dance, or go AFK in a nice lounge, but because I don't want to have to camp prats who are scared because it's a fair 4v4 fight, so they sit in the station all day. I want someone who is good at assassination to run through the station FPS like, and "BOOM-HEADSHOT!" him commando style. I have a great sig that I was once proud of. After much moderation, I've found the world will never see it again. |

I would like to remind people that ccp patches are, um, free. So quit complaining. If you want to walk around on planets.. im sorry to say.. that isnt eve.. eve is what it is. I dont care to walk around in an avatar unless its inside my ship. Even then it will prolly just add more lag.
There is no better game out there, 4 #1 awards says enough. Content? ya, i guess u could call that content, but seems more like a entirely different game imo.
I would like to see.... an upgrade to the grapics.. would be cool... more money invested in the servers which they did just needs a bit more polishing.. :), so grats to ccp for that, other than that.. customer service needs an overhaul as 10 days with no response then they clear queues and ask you to re submit is silly.
But i remember playing when 5k people online was lag. They have done a lot to increase subscribership and imo how can you fault them? Thats a lot of hard work to go from 50k to 130k... dont you agree?

I hated the AFK lounges in SWG. I like not having a body in EVE. all that empote crap in most MMOs makes me wanna puke. I see EVE as a muture, scientific, dangerous, articulate, and cunning MMO, not a foofoo, puffpuff, strokestroke kind of game. Noone has ever hugged or kissed me in EVE and would like to keep it that way.
I would like to see more interaction with the planets, and the Devs already stated they are working on that. BUt not in the ways you are mentioning. I like the thought of building moon and planet stations that can mine/protect/dock and be bombed!
I also look forward to the comets. :)

I have to agree with the sentiment against a station you can walk around.
What I would like to see is more dynamic and interactive storyline content.
For an example of what I mean: A random, one off very hard mission is seeded with a very short completion time. If it is not completed it goes back into the pool and someone else can get it, but only one person can have/accept this mission at any one time in the game. The mission is to asassinate/kidnap/shotgun wedding some important political figure. Once the mision is complete it goes to the next stage.
In stage 2 the system the person came from erupts into civil or factional war or something similar. Now a whole slew of PvP missions (Note: I don't like PvP all that much at all and tend to avoid it, but I feel there is a place for PvP missions in Eve) get seeded. These missions will eventually determine the outcome of what faction gains control over that system.
Every two or three weeks a new system that borders between opposing factions can have similar events.
This is just an example, there are other options and possibilities towards a more dynamic and interactive story line in the Eve universe.

I just want the devs to add meaningful content to the game that is accessible and fun. If it comes in the form of being able to walk around in the station, then so be it, as long as it is fun and adds to the gameplay. ___________________

Yeah we need more ships. We only a hundred or so of them already. EvE is a big empty content lacking game with lots of ships. How do you make it more fun? Add more ships. ?
The problem with EvE is it has an important developer who thinks like you do, that Ships and PvP are the only thing that should be developed properly or with any real thought.
No.

Edited by: Keorythe on 31/07/2006 05:38:33 There are only two things that EvE the game gives us that are somewhat content related currently. Complexes and missions. Everything else is player content with the huge majority being Alliance politics. Its no wonder that so many soloists get bored and go to piracy which in itself is just a self pertetual behavior (if done as interdiction it still falls under alliance politics).
The fact of the matter is that other than ship loadouts EvE has 0 customizable content, very little real storyline based content, and definitely no manufacturing differentiation. All of which are of keen interest to potential players and to player retention.
Hopefully Path to Kali will introduce some new aspects but I'm not holding my breath on that one. It looks like just more ships and a few fixes. Maybe the faction warfare stuff will add some new life but I'd be interested to see how the heck they will get that to work.
*why the heck isn't my info popping up by my name?

That's coming. And why it's not already here you've already stated. It needs a good reason. The devs could have added it almost 2 years ago, but they wanted it to mean something. So they're working on it slowly so that it really adds new content to Eve, not just a different backdrop to the system you're in.
I'd say they're doing fine adding content. It used to be much slower. But now we have a "semi" consistent envelope in which they add these major "expansions". But you can never please everyone. For some, adding new ships is new content. For others it's missions. To each their own.

Not that flying within a planet is anything special (especially since the scale looks odd, considering the size of ships {case in point, raven sizes up to a whopping 1080 cubic kilometers}). Faction warfare would take on a whole new meaning if you could turn those super-weapons on cities. I say super weapons because, well think about it; conventional weapons nowadays are starting to get deadly - think about the damage that could be wrought on cities and planets using weapons of the future. Who was it that used nuclear rounds... for their autocannons?
If people really want to pilot in atmosphere's, why don't they push for this sort of thing? That'd certainly add a bit of content. Planetary defenses...
