There should be a repair.exe in the EVE folder. If you haven't already, try running that to see if that helps.
If that isn't working, re-downloading the client may be the only real solution. Morwen Lagann CEO, Tyrathlion Interstellar Owner, The Golden Masque

I finally reinstalled the client because I kept getting error repair messages. Finally manged to log on,ran a couple of missions and logged out.Next time I try to log in I fail and am told to run the repair. What is the point of this launcher?A stress test perhaps. |

Its something CCP added, no idea why.
The only time I run the launcher is when EVE needs to be patched. Other then that I just run tye exefile.exe to start my client. Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

I don't even use it for patches - just run the repair tool. |

If you are getting the 502 error, then you probably have a malware proxy installed. |

I have both the repair tool and the .exe file pinned to my startbar, and run the game entirely from those.

What I don't get is, if the launcher is as terrible as all these threads make it sound, why do so many people never have issues with it? I have never (knock on wood) had an issue with the launcher since the day it was introduced (aside from when the web servers go down while Eve is still up). It patches, loads, runs, strts my game, and in short does all the things I expect a launcher to do without any fuss or bother. In fact, I find it a crap load more reliable than, for example, the steam application, which occasionally, for no apparent reason. goes into a snit and requires me to reboot for it to work again.
tl;dr

If repair.exe fails, it is usually a connection issue.
The problem is that the launcher and repair.exe try to move data in chunks which can be quite large, and any corruption, or timeout, causes the whole transfer to fail. Instead of restarting the transfer with the partial data received, it is thrown away and the transfer begins again anew, typically with the same result (failure).
Note that the game itself is very light on data traffic, so once patched and started, most people don't have issues (or far fewer).
Servers involved with launcher: web, authentication, patch / content delivery network (CDN) Servers involved with gameplay: tranquility |

At the moment I have to reinstall the client after Ive logged out to get back online again.Trying to use the exe file in the bin folder brings about a similar result.Messages about a corrupted client.Repair does not work.Shame because I won't have an account for a game which is unplayable. |

That sounds really odd.
Everytime you start the client, it verifies itself. It sounds like you are failing this test.
Make sure you have enough disk space, as EVE uses an awful lot, especially for the cache.
Which leads me to also suggest to try flushing the cache.
You should also check (smartctl -a c:) the reallocated sector count [=writes that failed], and pending sector count [=reads that failed], on the drive / SSD. There may be bad sectors.
Wouldn't hurt to run chkdsk c: either. |
