How smart is it to leave a ship in a safespot? I mean i would like to leave my mining ship in a system at a safespot so i dont need to fly it to this system every time i need to mine. Is this very stupid or all safe?
thanks /anna

I've heard of a guy once losing a dreadnought this way. If you know there are no people that can use scan probes in the system your ship will be safe.. but honestly, it's not smart one bit. It could take months, but after, just one second and you'll be saying 'Dude... where's my mining barge?'

It's perfectly safe.
But your ship might no be there later.
BTW, what system did you say this was? ___________________________________________ The deeper you stick it in your vein, the deeper the thoughts there's no more pain. ___________________________________________ |

If you log off at the safespot inside that barge, your ship will vanish too. In this cae your barge is safe.
If you eject your pod from the barge and leave it there, the barge will not vanish when you log off... and it will show up on scan probe attempts by other players. It will remain floating in space, 'til someone gets into it.
If the system you are in has an NPC station, just dock there.
If the system only has a player-owned station or control-tower, see if you can get the standings/permissions to park (relatively) safely within. _______

A lot of people do it, and though it will never be truly secure, there are ways of making it better. Using observators to make a deep safe and using that is best, and then you will only be caught by someone else using observators to scan for your exact ship type, and seeing you there.
Of course, the busier the place is, the better that works. Try it in jita, and I bet you could leave a ship there for years.

imo never ever ever leave a ship in a safe spot unless you consider the ship disposable.

Depending on what it is then people who find it (if they can fly it) will either fly off in it or board it and have a gang mate destroy it for the 40% insurance and the modules from the loot.
