Depends what you mean.
If you mean:
Have a server check someone's evemail for an evemail from a particular character, with a particular subject/body, yes, it's entirely doable. Woo! CSM 9! http://fuzzwork.enterprises/ Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

No I mean like you sign up on a third party website and put in an API. You select a character from that API and the server sends it a mail with a hash. The person has to use that hash to complete verification.
Idk if this would even be useful was just thinking about multifactor authentication and using an eve account to fulfill something the user has. Blue-Fire Best Fire |

Unfortunately it's not possible to send email, without using evegate, or the eve client. scripting it isn't possible.
Long term, there's an SSO that you'll be able to use, which will allow for verification that someone controls a specific character. Woo! CSM 9! http://fuzzwork.enterprises/ Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

Couldn't I just make a bot that sends mails from evegate? Blue-Fire Best Fire |

And god forbid CCP ever lets the players create EVEmails via any kind of API ... the RMT spammers will have a field day then ... EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager. |

Out of curiosity, why? Why not get an API key for that character? Also you may just want to wait for the SSO to be generally available... I hear that may happen sooner rather than later. ;) CCP FoxFour // Game Designer // @RegnerBA |

I thought of this the other night and it sounded like a great idea at the time... maybe its not lol
I was just thinking that instead of a normal email verification to set up an account after you input an api you'd do an eve mail verification. Idk how someone could have an api but not have access to logging in the actual character...
Will definitely be checking out SSO when its available Blue-Fire Best Fire |

If you are going to use the api for user verification, make sure to have a bit of text unique to your application being required in the vcode. Or you could get someone using an API key that they got from a site they host, to act as another user. Woo! CSM 9! http://fuzzwork.enterprises/ Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

For a DBA you have a very keen sense of information security ;)
CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.
