IDEA #1 i got an idea when i was flying through low sec this morning
how would a fleet battle be affected by the ability of moving stargates? here's the drill if we would be able to move stargates using special tractor beams and ships it would give a good tactical advantage to the defending force because if the attackers are comming and are using instas then you can ambush them on the place that the stargate used to be.
------------------------------------- possible scenario: let'/s say your alliance hear of an enemy incoming fleet. And it's been reported that they use insta's you can use several gate tractors to move the gate and place a suitibale ambush. like a warpdisruptor bubble on the place that the gate used to be. also place a fleet in the near ficinity of said bubble. ------------------------------------- Rules 1. of course this would present a lot of problems for the defending force and for the stability of some star systems so it would be appropriate to have the gates location to be reset at the usual DT.
2. it's also not possible to move the gate more then say: 100km because the gate location must not be changed.
3. for further restrictions it must also be charg for a certain amount of isk to move the gate(permission of the gate opperators)
4. can only be done in space of wich you(alliance or corp)currently holds sovereignty.
IDEA #2 came after the previous idea so some rules will be copied from the last post.
POS = Player Owned Stargates same as the stations or out osts but only members of the controlling alliance can use them. This enables for rapid deployment of forces to a station or system that is currently under attack. also this will not show up on the overview (scanners only) so the controlling alliance has a faster and covert way of transportation. it also enables for somekind of underground network of transportation that you can use to infiltrate the enemy. of course if the enemy finds them they can use these gates against you with any number of tactical approaches.
------------------------------------- possible scenario #1: your system has been taken over :*( but you have a gate there wich is still under your control :) you can thow in a sizeable fleet to take the system back. ------------------------------------- possible scenario #2: enemy forces move in and you can react very fast to intercept them and destroy them. -------------------------------------
Rules these are largely the same as the station rules
1. requers fuel
2. in the vicinity of a moon
3. controlling alliance can say who can and can't use them
4. can be taken over
5. all the other rules for owning ouposts and starbases
this idea can be subject to change as i come up with more rules to balance these things

Player Owned Stargates are a good concept, they only shuld need a lot of effort to place and defend, for example, require mothership, few billion investment, regular fuel and few days of work when placing. --- Bookmark improvements Player owned brokers |

addition to the idea: you could charge people to use them so you can earn back the nvestment you made in these things.

Lots and lots of maintenance costs - that's what I'm thinking about player owned stargates. And that would be a good thing. A useful way of burning all those ISK.
