Okay this has probably been asked before but i thought i'd fire it out there as there is some questions i would like some answers for if possible Firstly what would be the overall benefit of having a POS in high sec. is it just for the compression array? Will compressing the minerals make me a nice profit? Will i gain more manufacturing slots and research slots even if i haven't trained for extra? What sort of sovereignty do i need to pitch my own POS? Small or medium control tower be a better option for high sec?
I appreciate any responses. thanks Dimitri |

1. There are no more slots. You can do all of the manufacturing or research you want out of a single facility or POS array (assuming it's the right type of facility/array).
2. Compression is indeed a very profitable use for a hisec POS. If all you're doing is compressing, you don't even need to keep the POS online all the time. Just anchor the tower, online it, anchor the compression array, and take the tower offline until you actually need it. Saves you a ton on fuel.
3. There are no more standings requirements to anchor a tower in hisec. All you need is to be in a player corp. You do still need to provide the appropriate Empire starbase charters along with the fuel blocks.
4. If all you're doing is compressing, a small is fine. If you're doing industry that will fit into one active array at a time, a light will generally work as well. More than that and you'll want to consider a medium.
5. Doing research in POSes is faster than in station, and manufacturing in POSes is faster and takes fewer materials. Also, if you refine at a POS, you get higher yield than in a station. Whether the POS is "worth it" or not depends on how much use you put into it.

Thanks very much for the reply appreciated
I think what i was meaning by slots was for example i have 8 bp's i can research at a time in a station and 4 manufacturing slots. Am i limited to say just the 8 and 4 slots or can i do as many as i want? therefor rendering my skilling in laboratory operations and mass production a waste of time?
thanks again :) |

thanks again :) You are still limited by your skills. Before Crius, you needed both the skills and an open facility slot. Crius did away with the facility slots so now the only limits are your skills and how much you're willing to pay to use the facility. CCP Falcon's thoughts on suicide ganking. Any time. With the bottleneck of slots gone, I think this really is the best time to give industry a try. I start right after Crius, mostly making stuff for personal use instead of buying it. Compressing *minerals* is no longer feasible. That's how we used to work before Crius. Compressing *ore* on the other hand is what the compression array is for an may well make you decent profit, check market prices to be sure. Don't forget to factor in fuel costs.

Don't forget the bonuses for using the various production arrays. Usually 2% reduction in material costs and reduced manufacturing time. You will also save on the job installation costs.
Of course you need to balance all this with how much it will cost you to maintain the POS. |

Well i worked it out for medium control tower it's 174720 fuel blocks per year if my calculations are correct. And 8760 charters. So i think from my point of view i'm just gunna stockpile fuel and resources till i'm confident i can maintain a POS preferably for the year. Looking at it from a distant point of view i'm cutting costs in some areas and obviously adding costs with fuel etc. thanks for all the i put. Eve has an awesome helpful player base |

Ps i meant compressing ore my bad Note that faction towers use less fuel. There are two "grades" of them.
True Sansha, Dark Blood > Sansha, Blood > Amarr Dread Guristas > Guristas > Caldari Shadow Serpentis > Serpentis > Gallente Domination > Angel > Minmatar
However they are more expensive to purchase. |
