Regardless of jamming if the domi has his drones out before the kestrels attack him, the drones will automatically attack one of the kestrels and attack the rest after that one has been destroyed. This alone can pretty much screw the little pack over.
Successful jamming will keep the kestrels alive for another 20 seconds. But once they fail and the domi gets a lock he can spread his heavy nos, which the general domi has, across the kestrels, pretty much disabling their capacitor and their ability to jam/boost/web/scramble/ab/etc.
Even worse the domi will probably have jammers of his own which will most likely nullify halve the kestrels by default.

Hmm, Drones don't even do that anymore for me.

It's funny, when I'm jammed if I haven't ordered my drones yet they go straight for the jammers. ----

Drone behavior is modified by the status of the drones.
If any of them have armor damage they won't change targets automatically after an attack, if any have structure damage they won't auto aggro.

Any domi that can't beat 4 kestrels is very, very sad.
You could probably tank all 4 forever on a single repper no problem.

If at range, the domi deploys 5 sentry drones and pops the kestrels as they spend an hour getting close.
Light or med drones from a domi will tear into a kestrel so fast that you'll be lucky to get a drone into armor before going pop.

Yep - forever - even five if you have a Tech II or automated. And it gets funny if you use Neutralizers instead of NOS's - they just fly around like limb legs. It is very humiliating that you just sits there doing nothing for a few minutes - and then deploy the drones. And you don't have to use light or medium, Ogre IIs will do it twice as fast.

This fight shouldn't last longer than 30sec or so If the Kestrels aren't using EW ofc...
Small/Med T2 drones ftw!!! (NO, they won't die before those Kestrels do...if they do, Domi should have plenty of spare)
PS: Ofc you can kill noob NPC'ers, but you could probably do that with 4 Velators as well __________________________________________________

Umm.....a domi with no modules would win, just using drones. The kessies would be dead long before the domi would be.

Unlikely, 4 maxed out kestrels (not using rages) can do well over 500 DPS IIRC. 20% more with rages.

Assuming 75% resist, thats 125dps that has to be tanked, and a large armor rep 2 will do 66.6 rep/s, using two of those, its 132 rep/s. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

There is no yes or no answer to this. It all comes down to each pilots ability and their setup.
The odds favour the dominix as it has more options and durability but any competant kestrel pilots can deal with drones, especially when working with 3 other kestrels

A BURN EDEN Kestrel fleet you mean?
I think the real question is, could 4 kestrels take out 4 domis?

I've seen a lot of froth about how kessys with ECMs would win, but doesn't the kestrel have like, a really really bad cap, and doesn't an ECM ... well basically trash it in short order? Against a domi, assuming max skills, your t2 multispec is strength 6, which is about 1/3 chance of a jam. With 4 of them, your odds admittedly go up to about 80%, but then your cap's gone.
The situation is somewhat better with racials, assuming you _know_ you're after a domi, but ...

I foresee cap to be an issue.
1 racial and 3 damps would do the job nicely. Although it would entirely depend on how the drones felt like acting while jammed.
it *could* be possible, but highly unlikely, is where I'm going to leave it. ---

500dps? 125 dps each? I suppose that's just about doable, but I'm not convinced about 'well over'. Especially if you want to have any cap at all to run an ECM...

Medium drones > Kestrels
and you would need to jamm the dominix quite some time to kill him, wonder how your cap wants to sustain it -.-

Only chance would be to 'disable' the drones of the domi. But that require some carefull shooting and hope the domi pilot goes wft for some time before he shoot it's own drones.

Since this is not a made up fight as you claim the kessies will come with multispecs (or worse wrong racials). The kessie is the ship with the worst cap i ever came across. I haven`t tested it but i am quite sure it wont run a multispec forever.
I think the cassies cap out A LOT before the domi ever gets into cap problems (runs out of charges). Kessie cap gone - boom boom boom boom 4 pods.

Ok we will have 4 full skilled kestrels. And we have 1 full skilled Dominix.
Do we have only tech 2 or faction loot?
Ok I am not full skilled. My normal msion Dom for 4 damage types looks like this: 1 Core LAR ( around 95 dps/sec repair ) 1 LAR II ( Backup ) in nearly all missions never used 3 tech II active hardner ex/kin/term 1 energized adaptive plating 1 named damage control Result 2 x 71 % 2 x 80 % hardened
5 cap recharger II
2 named HNOS 4 named 250th rails
Without the NOS I could tank these 125 dps/sec around 150 sec before my cap will reach the critical mark of 30 %. Btw. the kestrels will do not have time to kill my drones cause that will give my tank more time.
So I have this time to kill one Kestrel. If that happens the Kestrel dps will sink to around 93 dps which can be tanked by the core LAR. That will give me some hours to kill the other 3 kestrels.
You can now make the math with a real skilled and equipped Dom pilot with a bunch of faction loot ( hardener ftw ).
Therefore I doubt that the kessi pilots will win.

If the domi uses t2 light drones, as soon as he can lock on one of U they will tkae ti out and random attack any attacking ship. T2 drones are pretty tough and fast.
He could also just pup out Med T2 drones whcih won't have any troubles catching t1 frigs. Those will RYANO in a few sec and are very tough.

Four Kessies with four T2 rocket launchers, kinetic rage rockets and max skills will do about 560 dps without BCUs, which should be Just barely enough to break a 2 LAR tank with 75% resist. With as much armor as most Dominix setups have, it would probably last long enough to get lucky and kill at least one, which is all it would need to do to hose their damage.
The Kestrels might be able to keep their collective cap up long enough to run those multis for more than a few cycles by staggering the pulses between each other, but then they'd run an even bigger risk of the Domi getting unjammed and ripping them apart.

Not unless the domi pilot was an idiot, or one of the kestrel pilots had a HAC in his back pocket.
A domi could tank 4 kestrels until they ran out of ammo. Not only that, if the domi pilot was smart, the first thing hed do upon seeing the kestrels on overview is kick out his drones, so the first kestrel that jammed the domi or fired on him would suddenly have a really bad day.
And yes, drones do still do that.. but you HAVE to have the drones already out before the other player commits the first act of aggression. If youve had so much as 1 shot fired at you before you launch the drones, your SOL until you can get a target lock and order them to attack, unless one of the kessies was dumb enough to attack the drones in that situation. Of course that wouldnt be too much of an issue, since as I said the domi could just tank the kestrels until they ran out of ammo or cap or both. Or just jump through a gate and immediately kick out drones on the other side, in case he gets jammed again.

I'd raise your friend to 6 kestrels without even being concerned for the Domi's armor... It takes about 6 seconds for sentry drones to pulverize a kestrel. And instead of nossing, you can fit all frig guns in highs, ecm in the mids, and the craziest tank in lows... But hey, Instead of wasting ppl's time just go test it out. Ison's notches more notches |
