So with the new update and changes in the appearance of cloak, I was wondering if there could be a added feature to be allowed to detect them with my own eyes in the game.So what I am suggesting is with the appearance changes to cloak, why not add cloak sensing were nothing changes on the overview but depending on your skills or modules, you can see a somewhat cloaked figure as you approach them? Let me make sure I am explaining this correctly as I do not want a easy means of detecting cloak.
Example: ship X jumps though the gate and cloaks and warps to planet Alpha ship Y un-docks and flies to planet Alpha with only knowledge that there is someone in system and coincidence he choose planet Alpha. Ship Y looks around space and see's a very faint small blur or something that looks like the predator cloak in the movies. (note the range at which Ship Y can see this blur should be limited such to 30k)( also note the ships full appearance as size should also be factored by range) Ship Y moves closer and Ship X seeing a increase and more defined blur which he knows is not background animation anymore. ( note definition of ship X should increase as range decreases but not dramatically example: every 15k) Ship X does not appear on overview or any scans such as probe scanner, D-scan. Ship Y still requires to get within the 2k range to de-cloak ship X before being able to lock him. Ship X warps away no issue =D
So there is my suggestion, something in the game that allows players to hunt but not full confirm or counter cloak. Also I believe this would make some really cool game play because how detailed are eve's backgrounds and how hard would you have to work yourself to find something that might not even be there? |

Try doing a bit of forum searching next time, eh? This is one of the many, many, MANY times this exact same idea has been suggested for cloaking. There's even a thread specifically for cloaking (or there was, a glance at the stickies seems to have it gone, now).
Reported for lock, IB4L, etc, etc, ad infinum, ad nauseum. |

If there is any visual indication where the cloaked ship is on the grid, it makes cloaks easy to spot by some and gives them a strong advantage over the average player. The reason is that you create a very strong incentive for the player to manipulate things in a way, that turns the intended hard to see visual distortion to something highlighted on the screen. This is what tends to happen in competitive environments and there is little to prevent us to do it. It doesn't even have to be a client modification. I can mess up how the GFX card handles such effects, so it gets messed up and sticks out like a sore thumb. Even if I wouldn't like it, I would be the first to take advantage of it. It might make the game look a bit bad, but added security and ease of hunting cloaked prey would outweigh the annoyance. |

Any information about the positioning of cloaked ships should never be transmitted to other players - otherwise some people will make use of 3rd party programs to hook that information (cheating) so as to be able to see exactly where all ships are as if they aren't even cloaked. |

Yes i did some searching and there are post about cloaking which are already lock. Also when others talk about this subject everyone has a different idea and how to go about it. If nothing is done and people want something changed, then people will continue to bring up the matter. Also by your definition most post should be locked because they have already be posted about, and no one can have a different idea. |

I can understand your concern, however those who would use a 3rd party program are already trying if not already are today. If they want to risk being ban adding this feature or not isn't going to stop them. |
