Hey guys,
So took a year or so off from Eve and just returning today, updated the launcher (all worked fine) and pressed launch. Type in username and password, all good, press launch and get the "LAUNCHING..." screen. Takes about 15 - 30 seconds, and then it goes back to "PLAY"... Although nothing happened.
After checking task manager I see that the Eve.exe full is running under background processes. I also used to work around by launching it from the BIN folder, however it stays in the background. So ultimately it's the actual game not launching, rather than the launcher itself, if that makes sense. I can tell this as I will press play two or three times and each time another .exe is launching under background processes so clearly that's the launcher, just not doing it right.
Run repair, checked firewall, run client as Admin, ran in compatibility mode (I'm Windows 8), nothing. Also tried Google although I couldn't find anything. If anyone has any idea how I could get the game to launch, or a link that I may have missed, it would be much appreciated :)
Cheers.

This is happening to me too. Last night it was fine, but this morning I cannot get neither Tranquility nor Singularity to launch. I have no idea what could be causing it. Nothing changed; no new programs, drivers, settings, anything.

Same for me. Eve worked great two months ago. Fired up for the first time yesterday, patched, clicked play... Nothing. As per the OP it logs in fine. Click 'Play', button cycles to 'Launching', then back to 'Play' a few moments later. Ugh.
- Win 8 64bit - Tried repair - Tried running in compatibility mode XPSP3 - Complete uninstall and reinstall three times, online and offline (manually downloaded payloads) - run as administrator - tried forcing use of DX9 and DX11 using shortcut with customized command line - tried launching directly using the /bin/exefile.exe with the standard and customized command lines - tried safe mode
Things I've noticed - DXDIAG.exe says I've got DirectX11, Eve Launcher says I'm only compatible with DX9, no option to switch between them - unlike others, I do not get a program running in the background. I get a command window which comes up, then disappears a few moments later. Nothing persists but the launcher. - Repair seems to run and cycle through files in a suitable amount of time... as if it is doing something, but nothing changes - As part of my complete uninstall (oh the things we do for a game), I deleted the Eve directory in My Documents. After re-installation, this directory and subsequent files, were not recreated. But I don't know if that only happens after a successful launch.
... And again, this worked just fine previous to patching. No new drivers or software. Computer was dormant for two months while I was out of the country. Only change was the Eve updates which auto-installed when I fired up the launcher.
Any help, suggestions, or guidance appreciated. Thanks! |

I've got better things to do with my time. Last 5 minutes I'm committing to this is removing my billing information. Sorry CCP... maybe in a few years I'll be tempted to come back. But this problem is entirely yours. A non-optional, forced update shouldn't break a game. And if it does, some (any) sort of response would have been appropriate. |

yes! do that I was having the same problem it would stop at 99 percent at installing launcher
and thats the old school log in page form back in 2008 nice to see we can still use it
so i think just using the launcher for updates then go to the evefile and play that way should work for updates to but we will find out here 5 in days
if you cant find it i got it installed under C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin
might be different for others tho |

Appreciate the suggestion. Tried it. No joy or at least same result. Launch transits status to "Launching" and command window comes up. Then Launcher goes back to "Play" button and command window closes. |

You can try rerunning the DirectX install in the EVE Client to see if that fixes things. |

Also, running with logserver open, and saving the result would help. You can file a bug report with it, and maybe someone can determine what the error is. |
