First let me say I don't think the WarDec mechanic should go away, even though it is annoying for indy corps and some players. Sure i'd agree to some pricing adjustments might be made, but I have no realistic knowledge or opinion on how to do such a thing in a balanced way. Also let me say I have no 0.0 experience, and my time so far has been about 50/50 Ls/Hs.
There are plenty of Merc corps out there for higher. Some legit who will actually hunt down their targets, others choose to scam their client and not hunt the WD target, or do so in a target of opportunity manner (camp key system, or trade hub). Some other aren't even Merc corp,s they WD just to WD so they can get shiny KMs in HS for lazy or afk indy or n00bs. --What ever floats your [internet spaceship] -- I don't suggest these mechanics or play styles are wrong or should be limited.
Here is my idea though: please share constructive feedback
Corporate skill: Wartime Logistics --Corporation may conduct war in accordance with CONCORD guidelines for all systems with in 5 jumps of their Corp HQ office. each skill increase the logistical range of war operations by 5 jumps. (25 jumps at V)
Could adjust this by giving all corps 5 or 10 jumps with no skill, and CEO trains skill for 4 jumps a level or 3 jumps a level to still end up with 25 jumps.
Then charge a Corp x amount of ISK based on number of members when relocating their the Corp HQ Office. (Makes a nice adjustable ISK sink for CCP)
The idea is to get neighbors to fight neighbors, kind of have more (or) less dangerous areas of HS (based on number of HS PvP/WD corps in that region). This would to some degree throttle a small population of WD Corps that run 10-15 or more WDs at same time by just WDing everything on the forums and camping a bottleneck system. However these corps could just move their Corp HQ to said system and still do the same thing. This might also actually make Corps care about their Corp HQs (which I don't think anyone does atm).

Sure but this is the F&I Thread channel and those WD discussions are in General or Warfare and Tactics. Course if I posted it there I'd have gotten the same semi-troll feedback for not having posted it here. So i guess it's the same outcome. |

Actually I seriously didn't know that. I type my topics in the box and hit enter, after you pointed this out I did discover that click on the looking glass with empty search box yields an adv search function with capability you mention. |

This won't work. It should be obvious why. (hint; alt corps)
Nevermind that you don't get to talk about nerfing wardecs before things like dec dodging are fixed. Nerfing something that is already 100% reliably dodged for a piddling few million isk and a few minutes time is just a sorry idea in the first place.

Had no idea it was easy for 80, 100, 150 plus player corps to dodge WD that easy. I know the 1man and even 5-6 man disolve corp thing, was reading about that earlier. |

As a rule, how old is to old to resurecct a thread with a new post? In my experience necro threads are generally not looked upon kindly by forums users or moderators. |

i dislike arbitrary rules like this. It only seems useful for war decs made for area denial and even then you would only be able to conduct area denials around your HQ (another annoying arbitrary feature that shouldnt even exist, let a lone have meaning).
what if your war deccing a corp for max damage or intimidation purposes? what if youve been hired as a hit squad and the target corp just moves out of the zone? what if you want to war dec a corp and deny them from mining any and all ice in all four hi-sec regions?
neighbor vs neighbor simply isnt good enough.
IF this is however meant as a different kind of war dec where you can attack any and all other players (including NPC corps) within a certain range of your HQ with a single war dec, then i find this proposal much more interesting.

This isn't too far off a small part of Marlona Sky's (I think?) idea on fixing wardecs. By limiting range in some manner, you motivate corps to simply move out instead of dec dodging or staying docked for a week.
It doesn't solve all scenarios, no, but it certainly makes the "grrr those are my ice block" wars more viable.
I've given a +1 for the general idea, but I do have two criticisms: 1) The implementation itself, I don't think skills should linearly decide the dec range 2) Too many threads on WD already, the rare time I agree with our not-at-all-annoying civilian forum cop. Your idea is appreciated but try to pick a thread out of the bunch and toss it in there. |

I have no answer for some of your responses =/
But others like what if target corp moves after you were hired - I think the client would be just as happy with that. Opponent left, and the opponent paid to leave win/win, hits their wallet and removes them from area.
As for Ice, they have to haul it back eventually and you can pop them when they head back. This would actually make it easier for you to find them since you could figure the coke systems in the range. Though you can do that already.
As for making it a new/different mechanic and allowing it to WD NPC corps - I think that is a brilliant and much better implementation than what I thought of. |

I don't see how limiting wardecs by distance would be productive. For the sort of wardeccers who simply camp trade routes, it would be business as usual. For the sort of wardeccers who actively hunt their targets, this would severely limit their ability to operate.
I am intrigued by the concept of a new sort of wardec system in which you are able to declare war on an area of space and be able to shoot everyone in it, so long as that system existed alongside the current war system and did not replace it. Even if these wars were restricted to one system per aggressor, it would turn every ice system into a conflict zone, which would be awesome. I imagine that trade hubs would need immunity or it would be an incredible slaughter.
However, I think it is unlikely that CCP would ever go for the idea. History has shown that they are willing to restrict the current forms of highsec PvP but unwilling to expand and create new forms.
No, wardecs are relatively fine as they are. They could be improved upon but not in the way you suggest.
