I've seen a lot of fits for Ishtar's that claim the ability to run level 4's, DED sites, and so on, but they consistently appear to be geared towards Serpentis or other factions that don't do EM damage.
I'm not too concerned with level 4's, but I've been wondering about running combat sites. The Ishtar is used for those, but again the fits I see are for non-EM damage types.
So.. let's start with the basics. Is it possible to channel all this "Overpowered"ness of the Ishtar into high-sec *sansha* combat sites? (yes, i realize it wouldn't be able to access 1/10 and 2/10 sites, so we're talking 3/10 and 4/10).
Is there an alternate ship that would do the job more efficiently? Profit favors the prepared |

It will so over power 3/10 and 4/10 it won't even be funny. Obviously a shield tanked will devote more slots to tank to fill that gapping EM so armor may be more preferable. Either way, it will decimate them. |

As for other ships, The gila would probably be a bit faster, especially on the 3/10 and will have no problem doing either site. The medium drones combined with light missiles will make quick work of everything you'll come across.

You won't have to "make it work"; pretty much any HAC will pass through any 3/10's and 4/10's. Fairly certain I used to use a Jaguar for hi sec sites.
Basically shield tank it and plug the resist hole or Armor tank it and don't have a hole to plug (lose dps mods though - which can honestly be made up in the mids). It's an ishtard for crying out loud. |

Well, Sansha is just a mere immortal while Ishtar is a goddess of war, love, and sex. He stands no chance.

Hi Sec sites quicker to use lights. Cause its 99% frigs.
Ishtar is only marginally faster than a vex....in hi sec sites that is. |

It is actually a lot of overkill for 3/10 and 4/10 plexes, for L4s and bigger plexes you need a medium repper and have to drop down to FMPs(power grid issues). It should be able to kill nearly all frigs with a web and the guns, so you can use sentry or heavy drones vs Cruiser+ targets all the time, what speed thing up mostly. I also use a slightly modified version of it for Incs(800mm plate instead of a repper and different rigs ofc)

I also like the Legion/Zelaot for plexing, a bit slow in L4(compared to 1400+ dps BS) but doable. |

You can do high sec combat sites for Sansha and Bloodraider just with with a shield LSE fit Ishtar, not much different from a Serp fitted one apart from resists (obviously). Mostly because the trick to doing BR sites isn't to brute force them (you can't really brute force BR sites), sansha sites are easy though.
Having an EHP fit is logical to use anyway because it makes you less of a gank target in case you fly around with valuable exploration loot and also because it doesn't require bling mods in the first place (which would make you even more of a gank target).

Launch 2 geckos and 3 lights and fly around to avoid damage. I hotkey my drone return to bay to 'T' if they start taking to much damage, sansha can be hard on drones. Fill in the rest of the drone bay with what you want.
Test server, try a few fits out.

Or to put it more directly; using lol bling fit cruisers in high sec, quite possibly with lots of bling loot on board, is dumb as hell. Especially so if the other option is hilariously cheap AND EHP based at the same time.

..a six-slot tank plus tanking rigs? On an Ishtar? Seriously?
If you're planning on hisec exploration, I'd recommend Blood Raiders rather than Sansha. Apart from the huge (mostly empty) regions to wander round, the 3/10 plex (Blood Raider Intelligence Collection Point) is all frigates and can be tanked with a SAR. And the frequently generous Mul-Zatah Monastery 4/10 plex is a doddle in a 'tar because it can be sniped with an equally tiny tank. You'll need a MAR and extra tank for the Blood Watch or Vigil though.

This cap-stable fit can snipe to 100km or motor around a Blood Watch with impunity - but stay clear of NOSsers and primary them. Take a Mobile Depot and swap two DDA's for a DCU and a faction EANM for the Vigil. It's a tight fit, and if you don't have the skills then drop the railgun. But this is what I used for many (highly profitable) months tooling around Genesis, Kor Azor and Kador. Many Corpum C-type EANMs were looted

As i keep saying just dont take your fit is set in stone, a blood vigil can be completed in a 2 LSE II buffer tanked stratios with no other tank mods, adapt to your playstyle, environment and "desired" entertainment (some would consider getting away from the initial group with 20% shields a fail and too exciting). |

Maybe a bit late to this but I've just moved on from combat sites to run L4 in a shield tank Ishtar and so far I'm not facing any major problems, not even with Sansha. In Mids: adaptive invulnerability 2, 2 x F-S9 Regolith, a 1x racial hardener (in this case, EM Ward Field 2). In addition, for L4's, I've got 2 x medium anti-EM screens in rig slot. Drones: Garde 2, Federation Navy Ogres and a second set of racial specific sentries (Curators in this case). The FNO's track better than Ogre 2 and will kill any frigates (all it takes is one hit from any of the five - with 737 dps from my skill set)
The approach is MWD away, drop sentries .... If anything gets too close, use the ogres while you make distance. Same in combat sites, though you can get someone who drops in with, say a Deimos, and gets to the faction loot before you do, but with a mobile tractor unit this doesn't happen too often. |

The stasis towers in all of the 8/10 ded's are the only issues you have. Once they or gone is just orbite at 60 and use lights to pop the elite frigs. the sansha prison camp is the hardest, if you can complete that the rest is easy SoloFoLife! -KEKE the Merlin wonder |

I'm thinking more about: Serpentis/Blood Raider 5/10: last room. how do you want to survive long enough without sentries? Blood raider 6/10: Second-last room. You need sentries again to kill the T2 bs which are changing target to your drones VERY fast. Serpentis 8/10 and 10/10 how do you want to break the tank of the station? 850dps+ arent enough. At the 10/10 you can go to 60km distance and use sentries, but this doesnt work at the 8/10 site.
I cant tell about the other pirate sites as i dont fly them.
