IGÇÖm pretty sure CCP already ruled out the expansion of the New Eden Cluster. And, although I could not find a similar post in forum, I assume similar ideas where proposed by others before. Yet the latest rumors about Stargates fired up my imagination and I thought, why not come up with the results. IGÇÖm looking forward to your comments.
TLDR: Add a new range of systems, which can be access by new player build stargates but needs to be scanned by a new deployable structure or by a new scanner probe type. To use this stargates a new ship module is required and, as a kind of key to the stars, star map originals and star map copies.
The deep-space interferometric telescope array (new GÇÿcomplexGÇÖ deployable structure)
The DSIT consists of a number of DSIT units which are coupled to the array. The array must consist of a minimum of 3 such units. This units can be anchored anywhere inside a star system. The further away the better. The distance between the units will determine the resolution of the DSIT. (Please look up some science for that.) The more DSIT units the better. The number of DSIT units used will set the scan-strength of the DSIT. Once all units where anchored, onlined, linked and synchronized the DSIT is ready. Resolution and scan-strength will be the main attributes of the constructed DSIT and also depend on the DSIT meta-level. The player sets direction and angle of the DSIT (like in directional scanner) and starts a scan program. Depending on scan-strengths, resolution and angle, the DSIT has a chance to detect a distance star signal in the direction it was pointed, if there is one. The signal will have a signal-strengths based on the DSIT attributes, star distance, star virtual size and disturbing factors like nebulas or close by stars. Further reduction of the scan angle and adjustment of the scan direction can bring the signal to 100%. If this is achieved, the DSIT will spill out (per scan program) a Star Map Original, which like BPOs can be copied to create single or multi-run Star Map Copies. The Star Map contains source and target system coordinates and a deprecation time.
The deep-space navigation computer (new module)
The DSNC enables a player to activate a stargate which is directed to any known system and to any new/unknown star system for which it has a Star Map loaded. The DSNC can load a single Star Map Original or a copy. The Copy will be consumed during the stargate activation. For a fleet jump only one DSNC and only one copy is required for activation.
The Stargate (new deployable structure)
The SG is a single deployable structure that can anchored and onlined at any free moon in a solar system. It is owned by the alliance of which the anchoring player is a member of. It can only be anchored by members of a player alliance. It cannot be anchored in WH space or High Sec. A stargate needs to be initialized using a star map copy, which sets the fixed source and target system. The initialization creates a beacon in the target system which can be used to anchor, and initialize a corresponding pair gate without the need to reverse scan the source system. The pair stargate however has to be brought to the target system, anchored and onlined. If there is no free moon in the target system, the initialization will fail. It is still possible to use the stargate one-way. One-way gates will jump to a random point in the target system. This point will be set by the first jump for 12h and clearly visible on the overview in the target system. The stargate has a capacitor which slowly regenerates energy. Each activation and jump cost energy in relation to the size and the combined weight of the jumping fleet, without capitals. If the current amount of energy is insufficient to jump the whole fleet, the jump does not happen. For the owner alliance, it is possible transfer energy through remote cap. The stargate has a hold for its race-specific jump fuel (depending on the stargate). This fuel can be used to jump capitals through the gate. The amount needed is calculated from the fleets jump fuel consumption required for the distance of the jump and may exceed the jump range of these capitals. It is not possible to jump capitals to high-sec. Jump-Freighters may choose to use jump-fuel or energy from the capacitor. Only the owner alliance can store jump fuel in the stargate and jump capitals through. Apart from that, a stargate is always open to all sub capitals of all players, regardless of their alliance membership or even their standing towards the owner alliance. Provided the players have at least one star map copy run that matches source and destination star system, or the destination is a known system, or the owner alliance made the route public by placing non removable star map originals in both stargates. Only the total destruction of both gates will close a once public route. Which means stargates can be destroyed. The remains will act as a beacon for the pair stargate and cannot be removed or destroyed until the pair gate was destroyed. The beacons will than disappear after 12 hours. Stargates and their properties are immediately visible on the EVE Star Map. Linked stargates will appear as a dotted line. Unlinked stargates will show up as a dotted arrow pointing towards their target system. Jumps through these stargates get the same animation as for normal stargates.
