Probably will be after dust is fully converted to pc and they can double on the R&D costs for PC based fps (that will run in wrappers for mac half decent I assume as well).
That and eve has more important issues to to address in patches. When you undock you will see them. Want to type /dance and such to impress the other neck beards lots of games and avatar based chat/im can fill that need really. |

I do not feel that it is a need. It should be a requirement for a game as complex as eve to live up to what it is capable of. I don't want to play other games , I want to play eve. I am sure many others would love to fly to some casino station after a long day of missioning or plan a corp op whilst sitting around a round table. Current captains quarters is a lazy attempt to appease players. Not that I would take it back. |

The captains quarters was a half-ass design.
It was supposed to showcase new technologies and such... but it ran afoul because it had little actual gameplay thought behind it beyond "this will be cool!"
When CCP actually figures out how to make it viable without taking away from the current systems we enjoy outside of it and have it play into the themes of EVE (see: you are safe no where) then maybe it might be revisited.
Outside of this... enjoy EVE for what it is and appreciate add-ons if/when they come. Stop not wanting to play the game because it isn't what you want it to be. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

I can agree that WiS should be expanded, mainly gambling and tactical corp/alliance meetings where charts, graphs and maps can be drawn on by various members and observed by others.
I can also agree that this has been discussed to death and CCP are likely aware of these suggestions. |

No argument with the search part of this.
If it is not placed here just how do you propose that we players still interested in the whole WiS concept let CCP know our feelings, thoughts and ideas? Especially since the devs themselves will tell you to go post it in this very forum if you send them a request by email.
And looking at your specific links there is nothing in them where CCP states that the whole WiS concept is dead so even if he had read them the OP is still relevant because it represents at least one persons request for additional features.

Incarna, or to be more specific the monolithic waste of development time that it represented, almost killed the entire game.

To the first, nope.
To the second, I suggest you look up eve poker. Third party site, but that's as good as you're going to get. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

With some deeper digging you may see that Incarna was well served by the WoD team. But now they are gone and Incarna has proved to be much harder to develop on than anticipated.
dont get me wrong, a large portion of the player base loved the idea of Incarna. But it was way too ambitious, way too complex and what we were told would be included in Incarna is not likely to happen...like ever. Even less likely without the WoD team i bet.

GD would have probably sufficed.
Check OP again, no request for a feature, no idea. Just requests for answers (similar to 'gimme this now. ok thanks.). But the answer to all the questions are: 'Not in the forseeable future'. it may not be officially dead, and CCP may come back to it at some point but, with no mention whatsoever in future plans or fanfests, it may be a loooooooong while. The problem with Incarna, even fully realized as the Devs originally envisioned, is it would do nothing for the game part of the game. Want to play poker for ISK? You can do that now. Want to meet your corp mates in a virtual meeting room? You can do that now. And you can do this stuff without CCP having to devote a single dollar to development or implementation, and without requiring you to even be logged into the game, let alone having to be in the same station.
This is why you certainly won't see anything done with Incarna except for where it helps develop gameplay for Legion, because whatever you can do mechanically on a station in Eve you can do just as well in a pod. |

It would increase immersion as well as add many gameplay mechanics. Saying I can play poker outside of eve or have a virtual meeting on Skype or something is such a cop-out. |

You mean it's a card which has been hurled onto the table hard enough to bounce off and slice someone's eye open? That said, while incarna is a nice concept, it doesn't add anything functional to the game. It's way more important for the game to be properly fixed before such things come onto the table again |

Mate, the core of the problem with Incarna is that it does not add any direct impact to the game in its present incarnation. Would it have done this if it would have lived up to the hype? Unlikely. Unless it opened the entire station up (promenades, shops, bars, lower levels, hangars, et cetera), it would add nothing to the depth of the game.
Now if it did all of those things and say, allowed you to explore the station, play games with people, do other social things, trade goods, walk through your hangar (corp hangar with roles), customize quarters and thus increasing the breadth and depth of immersion, I'd be in full support of it, as would more of the community.
Unfortunately what we received was a beta test of an engine to be used to produce another game, micro transactions for items which did not affect anything, and rage.
With that, until some form of Incarna can come about to actually produce some form of addition to the game (beyond wow cosmetic factors), we need to let it go, as there are far more important things that new Dev focus (i.e. bugs, ship issues, and improving on actual gameplay that has value). Ormarr Kai wrote:It would increase immersion as well as add many gameplay mechanics. Increasing immersion is overrated. Think of how many people experience Eve zoomed out, turning battles between hundreds of ships into just one group of boxes fighting another group of boxes. How many people have never again stepped foot in the captain's quarters after CCP allowed you to turn it off?
And talking about immersion, Incarna actually broke it, as the lore was you were sealed in a pod, never to come out. Your avatar wasn't actually how you even looked, as you were melded irrevocably into a machine, but rather a projection that you created. You were your ship and your ship was you. Then Incarna comes along and now you're capable of stepping out of your pod as easily as you step out of a car? Please don't talk about immersion here.
If there are gameplay mechanics to be added, they've never been mentioned. It's not a cop-out to say that you can already do what Incarna promised outside of game (and you can do it better, because again, you don't all have to sit in the same room in the same station to do it). It means that there is no need for CCP to spend resources developing it when those resources could go to other things. Now, if Legion comes along and that presents its own gameplay opportunities that WiS can take advantage of, then sure, CCP wouldn't be completely off if they built the bars and table games off of the already existing framework. But it's wasteful to develop that framework just for that.

You'll note that even your link says that's a projected image and not what a capsuleer actually looks like in their pod. Specifically, the capsuleer who used that particular image did so in order to be more terrifying and intimidating towards the denizens of the planet he had chosen to begun PI operations on. It's also worth noting two major discrepancies: Pods are filled with hydrostatic fluid which your image lacks and there is also the matter of capsule walls that are significantly more restrictive than what you show.
One way or another, Lieutenant Hirakii Pirkotan got out of his pod. |
