Did you not see the examples I posted that no longer exist? How exactly are they hitting it harder than they were in 5 years?
5 years ago we had: -Fortnightly chronicles with artwork -In-game news at least once a week -Lore based/cinematic trailers twice a year -Quarterly magazine which included unique artwork and chronicles (written by fans but processed by CCP)
We had 43 in-game news articles in 2014 compared to 176 in 2013 (Caldari Prime Battle Year). In 2008, a year when the game world was tied in with a novel we saw 133 updates! Including an expansion deployment which saw the game world literally evolve to reflect changes as conveyed in a novel.
Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely thankful for anything lore related. But to say they are currently exceeding past expectations and that I'm complaining for nothing is not fair at all. I hope, if anything, they are possibly starting to return to previous levels of activity.

Isn't Thera and sleepers stuff all new lore? Or do you mean other lore because you don't care about Wspace?
And they stated plainly that the cinematic trailers where costing a fortune in both time and money. And it couldn't really be justified or sustained.

Work out how much (little) new lore actually exists around Thera. And how much (little) players have been able to interact in a meaningful manner with it.
I think you'll find that most people here are at least passingly familiar with J space what with the A'J project being J space based in part. Regardless of where they actually live. |

I don't see that as any less than other lore interaction. The vast majority of us don't. So how did you interact with the other lore stuff? I mean a weekly bulletin doesn't really sound like interaction.

My initial post preceeded these new lore additions. It's still not close to the original quantity that I previously mentione. But I did acknowledge them later on in a later post.
[quopte]And they stated plainly that the cinematic trailers where costing a fortune in both time and money. And it couldn't really be justified or sustained. [/quote]
I also addressed this too.

It's not just interaction. It's the "life" aspect. It assists with the suspension of disbelief that this isn't a real world. It descripes events happening in an aspect of the game you may not even be able to access (such as planetside) and stirs your imagination.
But I do agree, interaction is better. And many of these live events were interactive. Such as the initial Sansha incursions.

Just thought I'd touch base. Lately we've seen some really cool world news updates and Scope videos. For those who were critical of my feedback, what do you think of these recent fictional developments that have been appearing coinciding with the release of Tiamat? Can you honestly say they didn't contribute any further excitement, immersion or any other feelings? :)
Personally it was a more noteworthy release than previous. I haven't actually been playing a lot recenlty due to real life commitments, but being able to read fictional world news, as well as player driven news, whilst out of game is exactly the magic I've been referring to all along. This game world lives with or without you and simple touches like these Scope videos are fantastic.
The most noteworthy feature of the current scope videos is that they are more inclusive of capsuleers than ever before. We've seen player characters referenced by name and their theories discussed.

I can't understand those who offers to write our own lore. One of bigger benefits of official lore was that it was written by Tony Gonzales, who is VERY good in writing epics.
We have some writers in Russia who writes EVE-related books (with slightly changed names of races and ships) and its really BAD. Its cannot reflect all complexity of EVE universe, all mysteries and complicated relations between imperies and corporations.
Actually i am very surprised that no good writers is interested in EVE universe, as a source for new fiction books. |

my apologies
I should of framed my response more appropriately but I felt an example of potential event content may of been needed in the discussion.

Problem is it's nothing to do with live events. Live Events are about players interacting with the Lore, and helping shape it, which requires the Devs to take part. Player run events and Null alliances are just sandbox content. We aren't complaining at lack of sandbox content, just at the lack of interaction with the lore. |

And a great example of heading in the right direction is the recent scope videos. These are a combination of player and lore/NPC interactions. Shows we're really part of the universe, not just playing within it.
