According to the text on the card the only way the Guardian can take damage (bar news etc) is if it uses its ability. Does that mean if the only ship I have defending my home region is a Guardian and the enemy attacks (no news or anything) they cannot destroy the Guardian period so the attack is futile?

When attacking a home region, after the first attack wave, all remaining ships attacking, fire on the starbase.
Your Guardian would jsut have to sit there and watch your base go boom I think.

Edited by: Storm Mage on 06/08/2006 08:33:55 Ah, I see that now, its part of the result step that they would do that. But, if you read farther down it says that "If all defending ships survived this battle phase, attacking ships must withdraw." This is also in the results section, so which would take precidence? The Guardian is the only ship and it survived, so wouldn't that force the attacking fleet to withdraw before it deals damage to the starbase?

In the text the damage to starbase come before the forced withdraw even if they are under the same steb.
Result Step: Do damage to starbase. The outcome of the above steps decides what happen next. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually it does. Very specificly.
First damage is done to starbase by attacking ships.
"The outcome of steps I, II, II and IV decides what happens next:"
This clearly happens AFTER damage is dealt to starbases.

my bad, I missread that. I thought it was just lumped into the result step (with the main parts being the 2 options). So much for the invincible defense.
