Found a 0.26% error to the index from mining drone rig stacking calculations. Neocom for iPhone appears to have wrong mining drone calculations. I've used the data from pyfa instead to check and correct those calculations.
Thanks for the interest and likes guys, it give me the incentive I need to make sure everything is as accurate as possible.

At dwissis request I've added some further fine print explaining what is taken into account that effects the index. It on the first subsheet of the spreadsheet.
A brief list of what is taken into account - losing time from traveling from pos/npc station to the asteroid belt. - reduced boosts when the orca is warping. - travel time for mining drones from ship to/from asteroid. - overmining of drone and ship mining lasers. - a 1.5 sec (1-2 server tick) command delay to turning on lasers, commanding drones and commanding your ship to warp.
Other things that are handled in the simulation but don't apply to using a orca unloading ore at a POS - Losing boosts when orca docks at a npc station. - Losing time when moving the ore in a mining ship to a station or pos. ie when solo mining in a Mack, retriever etc.
The devil is in the details. Neug Neug's Prime Industrial Real Estate http://goo.gl/I1t9e8 Mining Simulator V2.7 http://goo.gl/uq4g4i

I use the buy percentile price from jita as reported by eve central. That's the average buy price of the top 5% volume of buy orders.

This is a beautiful spreadsheet, but I need to dive into the calculations too because I'm getting nowhere near this isk/hour and I haven't heard of these kind of numbers being quoted to anyone else either (referring to Mining Simulator Sheet).
This really is isk/hour right, and not isk/2 hours as your indices page refers to?
I'm generally using a lvl 4 skiff/no drones with perfect Orca boost and hauling is handled separately. My refining rate is less, but I'm doing something wrong if your numbers are right. |

It is isk per hour, but it's for a fully skilled orca/hulk combo which gets a lot more isk per hour than a skiff/orca combo. You should probably make your own copy of the spreadsheet and enter the data for your setup. See the HELP subsheet for general guidelines to entering data. You will need a google account to make your own copy of the spreadsheet.

What is overmining?
Set the fleet bonii to 0%.
Overmining - Say your mining laser mines 1000m3 per cycle but the asteroid only has 500m3 left in it. Your mining laser won't stop half through its cycle by itself, when it could return the 500m3 in the asteroid. It will continue to end of cycle, wasting half a cycle.
Thats overmining, wasting cycle time when you could have stopped the laser and got all the ore left in the asteroid. To reduce overmining use a survey scanner and convert ore units to m3(volume), that way you get a idea when to stop your cycle. This is the hard way but most effective. You could also just mine the biggest asteroids, that will reduce overmining.
A easy is to mine in a quiet lowest security system your comfortable with. The asteroids will be bigger, that will reduce overmining by itself. Also don't mine the same asteroid belt every day. If you leave the asteroid belt alone for 2-3 days the asteroids will grow to a larger size. And put your lasers and drones on separate asteroids, that reduces overmining.
Another tip is to stay near the asteroids so your mining drones don't waste time flying. Save the closest asteroids for your mining drones.

- More refined Asteroid Size statistic for calculating overmining. Statistics for Hisec and Lowsec are sound, Nullsec statistics need work. - Ability to select what asteroid statistics are used. Selections - COMPARE (for comparing secs), HI, LOW & NULL. - Ability to set the asteroid spawn size, more info on typical values in HELP subsheet.

Market Alert - For the first time since Crius launch the Compression Index has dropped below the Refining Index. It has been a slow decline over the last month. This serves as a warning that POS compression arrays should soon be replaced/augmented with refining arrays if you desire maximum profit.

The compressed ore market dropped to within 2% of ore today. It was the equivalent of having 73.5% refine (less than max for a refining array, 75.25%). A rise in demand for compressed Scordite and Veldspar has recovered the market slightly and things shouldn't slide any lower for the weekend.

We'll it's been about 48 hours since I made the call. Lets do a review. - Referencing the indices I calculate. The compression index dropped below the refining index on Tuesday. The effective refining rate of compression dropped to below 76%. - The effective refining rate hit about 74.5% on Friday. - The effective refining rate of compression hit about 73.5% Saturday morning eve time. This was its lowest point since Crius launch. - 4 of the 18 high sec compressed ores opened up to profitability doing station refining for about 12 hours on saturday. - By Sunday morning the effective refining rate of compression recovered to 77%. - At the moment the effective refining rate is at 74.3%
Interpretation
The compressed ore market appears to be behaving similar to the ore market. In that it is now generally flat (bottomed out) compared to minerals but rather than at 72%+/-2% refining rate value it appears to be at 75%+/2. I expect this trend to continue over the coming period until compressed ore supplies are reduced.
The most likely candidate for a reduction in supply that will raise the market is compressed plagioclase & variants. Those with the refining skills and a refining array can refine instead of compress it for better profitability at the moment.
There is the possibility of the effective refining rate of compression dropping below 73% but not for long as station refiners in jita will be motivated to buy on order at this level.
PS: I'm going to check market again at midnight west coast USA time when all the weekends mining is generally sold up.

The way I see it you are best off to compress all your ore you wish to sell in the first instance if for no other reason than it is far easier to transport in that state.
Regarding sell order prices for compressed ore as the nullsec community has pointed out numerous times (I'm not a nullsec resident.) the prices have been set far too high for ages. Notably the prices for compressed Golden Omber have been utterly ridiculously high. It' s best to sell at the highest buy order prices at Jita based on maximum high sec reprocessing rates at an array no matter your location. Buyers will likely have the requisite skills to refine the ore and can transport the compressed ore easily.
No one should be selling compressed ore at less than the highest buy order value of the reprocessed mineral value.

Just a quick update. Compression is currently equivalent to 74% refine. Excluding null and lowsec ores, compression is currently equivalent to 75.23% refine, almost exactly the rate of a refining array with max skills - 75.25%.

I know it doesn't make much difference to the rates and amounts to sustain a POS etc, but any way to add more miners to the equations?
Something to take that "you must mine this much to not lose money on a POS" figure and break it down into some kind of time requirement perhaps.
Great charts by the way :)
Everyone has been advising me COMPRESS!COMPRESS!COMPRESS! and it seems for highsec ores at least it's not the case |

I'm curious though that this is giving me vastly lower numbers than IPH for the same mining ventures. IPH is telling me 14-16m/hr for highsec rocks, your sheet is telling me 5m/hr.
No way to add more miners other than having multiple copies of the sheet to represent other setups. But you can increase the number of lasers and drones under laser/drone info to simulate more identical mining ships.
I can give a hours of mining per day to pay for the pos from extra compression profits, I'll make a note, but big fixes and asteriod statistics are a priority ATM.
Yeah it nice to known if your best off refining, compressing or selling ore.
Biggest effect on IPH is asteroid spawn size if your not managing overmining but 5 m per hour seems low compared to 15. Should be at least half. If you tell me your setup and share the spreadsheet I can have a look at it...
