Another day, another loss to CCP's server issues. For solo pvpers like me the game has been unplayable for months. Can't remember staying connected for my whole play session in 2 months. |

Meh, for my part I understand the why of it. Fortunately, unlike last time the game was unplayable, I have something to occupy myself with. Destiny is about as much fun as I could ask from a shooter. The player base creates the content and now you expect CCP to maintain the servers? What a bunch of lazy bastards.
Think of the disconnects as emergent gameplay and things seem sooooo much better. This thread has so much content it may be 'Thread of the Year' and it is only January.

If there is a mass DC, it's almost always one of the general internet hubs that CCP DOES NOT CONTROL! I know it's hard to believe, but there are servers between you and CCP that they can't control that your internet traffic goes through, and when one of those servers goes down, your connection to EVE gets cut even though it's nothing to do with CCP.
TLDR. Learn to Internet, not all DC's are CCP's fault. |

Take a look at this post. CCP has admitted it is their problem, not our ISP's. From what I understand thousands of players are having disconnects every single day for 2 months. The game has been and is unplayable for solo pvpers. |

Doc... *looks nervous* what are you doing? You haven't vented the servers again have you. Furybot doesn't start lockable threads, he points people in the right direction and tells them that ISDs are enroute.
I think someone needs a memory wipe... Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

I guess I am lucky to have a Fiber Optic line that runs close to me. I live 45 minutes from 2 major internet hubs and 3 hours from the New York hub. The only thing I ever get once in awhile is that socket closed bs. I give it a day or 2 then all is good for me. Just remember to power down all routers and the modem. Sometimes that is the main culprit. Or it could be CCP at their end as has been pointed out. |

No, that's not what CCP said at all. DDoS attacks are not CCP's servers fault.
Like I said, learn to internet, actually learn how this stuff works. |

I think you need to learn to internet rather than just forum troll and defend CCP blindly. There are ways for them to prevent DDOS attacks on their servers, almost every online service has these problems and can fix them. Why would a dev post that they are working on this issue if it is unavoidable? They are simply not blocking these attacks fast enough and not taking their customers subscriptions seriously. I have been playing since 2010 and after 7+ weeks of disconnects everyday I likely wont be next month. From the other players I have talked to I doubt I'm the only one. |

There is no easy way to prevent DDOS attacks. If Blizzard can't defend against DDOS attacks what makes you think CCP can? I remember when Blizzard got DDOS'd and all of their servers in EU, Oceana and US were down all at the same time because of DDOS. You just can't do it easily especially since it seems to be a large scale attack.
Also if you think you can do better, im sure CCP is more than willing to hire you for your skills! |

The thing is Blizzard will issue compensation for services they can't provide properly. They will also hire new employee's to solve the problems. I have never heard of any connectivity issues in wow or d3 that have persisted for 2 months like this has.

I have played wow on and off since Burning crusade was release. Not ONCE have they ever issued compensation. In fact in their EULA they even say they make no guarantee's that their servers will operate 100% of the time. And if they go down during a raid you pretty much just have to deal with it. |

Then let me tell you to go play another game, nobody can stop a DDoS. There has been internet issues all over the place not just with EVE for the last few months. Join Bat Country today and defend the Glorious Socialist Dictatorship |

Meh. I'm new, so I'll plead ignorance and take the hit:
Blizzard *is* having similar problems right now. Not quite as regular as every day, but several times a week. Their forums contain similar sentiments. Wow and hearthstone have both been affected (that I know of personally) and I believe that it's been affecting their other titles as well.
LOTS of other gaming companies have been having similar issues recently. DDoS is the new black. (Which is funny, because this is really soooooo 15 years ago, but whatever, get off my lawn.)
DDoS attacks aren't easy to solve. Truly effective solutions are very expensive. Expensive solutions wreck business models. |
