Something that is bothering me for a long time now is the refitting of ships for different things. Let's take for example My Skiffs.. I play with 3 miner accounts and mine ice and ore. When the ice filed is gone and I want to mine ore I have to dock, drag all the ice modules and harvester out of the config and drag ore modules and harvester in. All those things are in my cargohold.
I have tried to strip and load a saved personal config, but the stripped modules end up in my hangar and when i load my other config it gives an error message because my other modules are in my ships cargohold.. And I want to carry them with me on my travels.
It would be a nice option if i could refit my fitting from within the fiting screen by just pressing a button using a saved config and the modules that I carry in my cargohold. So an option " fit from cargohold" would be highly appriciated. And not only for the Skiff but to numerous if not all ships flying around doing different things.

I agree - even changing from R&R to self repping on a domi which may happen quite often as the make up of a group changes - i would love the ability to swap a fit simply and quickly, especially from cargo hold if using facilities somewhere like a worm hole. |

Problem is this though:
You enable instant refitting for capitals who like to combat refit. Carriers being able to instantly switch into max tank fits when required is a problem as they are a little vulnerable during the refit. |

This. More than once, CCP has used the time it takes to do something as a way of balancing that activity. This idea wouldn't just affect in-station refitting but would also extend to in-space refitting where it absolutely should not be.
If you're having problems with stripping and refitting, then just get into the habit of moving modules where they need to be. This is one time where it's completely reasonable - even necessary - for you to adapt to the game instead of the other way around. |

I wouldn't mind an extension for fitting options. " strip to X" as well as "fit from X", where X is a specific hangar, a specific container, or your ships cargo.

If not possible then yes I agree.

Will the mobile depot fit in the cargo hold of your ships? if so there is the answer to your in space re-fit that you want without risking the game breaking issues others have pointed out. No you will only need one and all of the ships in your fleet can use it so if the hold is small one ship carries the depot while the others carry the re-fit pieces.

Some of you are misreading my post. What I supposed was binding some predefined fits to a ship. So when I refit in station I do not have to drag the modules all the time from ship from my cargohold and then visa versa to create the new fit.
I was not talking refitting ships in the middle of space out of the blue. No. Fitting IN space can only be done when next to a mobile depot or ship that has the service.

Uhm, only the owner can fit off a depot. -1 game mechanics comprehension points to you.

If you know this an issue, why do you keep putting the modules back into the cargo hold? Do you switch systems, or is it just a habit?

I roam systems a lot. Now I have fitted Skiffs for ice mining and seperate skiffs for ore mining. Since I have multiple accounts it is a pain to switch them out all the time just for doing something else. And keeping sets of all modules and mining equip in all systems i roam in is not doable. |

You should train for an Orca.
With an Orca, you can put your ice-mining Skiff into the ship-hangar and change her for the belt mining one.
An Orca also happens to be a command ship and you can fit your ship in proximity on an Orca.
If I remember it right you can have 3 mining ships in an Orca's ship hangar, ready to "undock". That way you can take your ships along with you.

Right now it is easier to buy new set of ships fitting em differently and then switch between em, As a manufacture im thumbs up for this, but as player who prefers to use different fits for different jobs.
heading for a longer road trip for any reason .. (looking for ore anoms in skiffs, scanning combat sites in stratios, running missions, or any other reason one would go for a road trip .. having the needed modules in your cargo hold for quick refit in the station or with a depot is quite usual. but having the option to quickly refit using predefined fits and being able to not need drag and drop every single module between the fitting slots- station hangar and cargo hold would be good
this option in station only as per the previous concerns about capitals insta-refitting. as the strip button wont work in space now anyway. docking up and clicking button from the fit window to refit from cargo is still more cousier then the currect options.
