So in one last desperate attempt before finally giving up I decided to write this.
The game asked me to go get my pilots license. I cant seem to find. I'm not sure whether I'm jumping through the wrong gate or I'm just not following the instructions properly because they are written by a 4 year old on a sugar rush but something isnt making sense. It tells me to go to the alillere system? But when I jump through the gate and then click warp to destination it dumps me in the middle of nowhere with no station to be found nearby.
Any helpful advice would be handy. |

There is.
My post was not to insult him, for the sake of Chribba, he started with the insulting part.
I just gave him a clear PoV on how EVE players think, which is: We are very very willing to help anybody out with questions they have, as long as said person stays mature and civil. Just because you don't like the answer given to you, doesn't mean the answer is wrong or the person has bad intent.
Your reply was very good, getting more 'background' info on the problem. My initial though is that it is an overview setting that hides the needed brackets, IIRC the "Pilot License" mission warps you to a bunch of scenery with a floating container which is "the Academy" where you retrieve your pilot license, not sure if it's behind an acceleration gate. Sometimes i think the tutorial is purposely "difficult" to seperate the wheat from the chaffe. .. or however you spellz it.
Thousands of people seem to muddle through with little a help and others seem to get stuck on all sorts of things that makes the vets cringe .." if you get stuck trying X what are you going to do when you get to Y."
What a "good" eve player should be thinking is .. "it warped me here. .. so there must be something here to interact with, i interact with the right mouse click - so lets try right clicking some of the objects here." "if i dont see any objects using the GUI maybe the GUI needs to be adjusted so i do see them - i will try googling "eve i cant see some objects in space" which takes you to Overview Tutorial - EVElopedia - EVE Online and explains some stuff that you can ad to your memory banks in your noggin and use for the rest of your time in eve.
Everything one can not do in eve, but you know you should be able to do it, is a teaching moment that builds player skill. If you hit a road block you can throw you hands in the air and give up, or you can try and find a sollution. If you do like this style of gameplay you will hate eve. It requires thought, patience, research, practice and more patience.

No see here's the thing sunshine. I gave you all the information you needed. There is only one mission in the tutorial that requires you to go get a pilots license. If I didnt have a ship the mission would have been go get a ship wouldnt it?
Are you as bad at following clearly written instructions as the game designers are at writing them? When someone asks for help try and answer the questions rather than adding more generic non helpful/relevant questions. |

Oh here we go. The usual " you are not cut out for this game because you cant work it out in 5 seconds". Just come from WoW have we? Sit around on your ******* arse playing video games all day do we? The problem with the game is you are going to lose money if you cannot make it accesible to everyone. The tutorial is badly written. It doesnt deal with issues a player might wonder about in a logical order. The instructions are poorly wriiten. Telling me to go to a station when there is not actual station there seems a bit silly doesnt it?
I dont want to have to tab out of the game to google a walkthrough because its the tutorial I shouldnt have to. The games is teaching me the mechanics. If you have to google stuff on the tutorial it isnt worth playing the game. Enjoy your ******* spreadhseet matrix ya toolbox! |

wow... just wow
do you want help or not? maybe you are just a troll .. thats seems more likely .. dont think i have see a new player, asking for help while being as rude as you in years.
we dont have the tutorials memorised (some of us havnt done them in years) but we know how to play the game .. we know the usual suspects and are willing to work with you to get yourself fixed. We need help to sort out what your issue is .. if you dont want our help .. then stop asking for it ..
if you want our help work with us to help you ..
if you are not willing to alt -tab and go look stuff up then EvE is not the game for you.
if you are constantly rude to everyone about everything this is not the game for you. (not sure how you manage in the real world)
the tutorial only confuses a few people - most people get through it ok, they look stuff up, ask question (nicely), and off they go.
I get stuck on missions .. had to look stuff up .. no big deal. Been like that in every game ive played .. sometimes the instructions are perfect, sometimes thers a bug, sometimes its me .. missing something obvious (well obvious in hindsight).
In your case i bet you anything you are looking for some sort of structure in space .. not a generic player station but a station none the less, or a gate to a structure ... but i bet i could know for sure if i googled it .. and i bet if you had spend half the time you did posting - actually looking up the answer you would be happier and onto bigger and better things.

OP, check the agent mission info panel. It will show you where you are supposed to be.
The agent info panel has an icon of a man in a hat to the left of it.
If the info panel is not showing, the same icon will appear in white at the top-left of the screen. Clicking-on the icon will show / hide the agent info panel.

Look OP... we are not sitting in your chair. We can't see what you are doing or where. You also have to consider a few things...
- you may not know the exact terms that everyone else here knows. So there is a need for extra clarification.
- you are asking us for help. Treat this situation the same way you would treat a tech-support call... except we can hang-up or troll you if you become... unpleasant.
- a "tough guy" attitude in this game will not serve you well. Anyone who has played this game for any period of time will tell you that it is better not to make a scene or attract undue attention to yourself. Having an "ego" is synonymous with painting a target on yourself.
Now... let us reboot this conversation...
Quote:The game asked me to go get my pilots license. I cant seem to find. What is the name of the mission? You can find it in your journal on the left hand-side of your screen (on the Neocom bar). It will look like a tan book (the mission should be on one of the tabs on the left side).
Quote: It tells me to go to the alillere system? But when I jump through the gate and then click warp to destination it dumps me in the middle of nowhere with no station to be found nearby. Did you accept the mission but wait for awhile before going out to do it? Are you sure you are in the right system? Was the "gate" a giant, colorful thing which ported you through a large black "wormhole"... or a flat "slide?" Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

Quote:2. Be respectful toward others at all times.
The purpose of the EVE Online forums is to provide a platform for exchange of ideas, and a venue for the discussion of EVE Online. Occasionally there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Forum users are expected to be courteous when disagreeing with others.
3. Ranting is prohibited.
A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.
4. Personal attacks are prohibited.
Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not conductive to the community spirit that CCP promotes. As such, this kind of behavior will not be tolerated.
Despite previous moderation, the thread devolved into a ranting flame-fest again, so it is locked. ISD LackOfFaith Captain Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) Interstellar Services Department I do not respond to Eve Mail or anything other than the forums. |
