I've been playing EVE since '07, and I am a huge RP fan. I had an interesting idea at work the other day, which lead me to re-subbing.
It would be very interesting to make a corp with an RP premise being "A Star System, declaring Independence from the Empire that controls it."
I can only think of my old RvB days, back when Red was in Tourier. An interesting concept would be the Tourian Solar System to collectively declare independence, and wage a PvE war against the Gallente for sovereignty.
The above is just an example.

A PvE "war" ....
You will only get crushed by those who actually fight wars... against actual people.
Not against stupid NPCs that are no challenge whatsoever and only serve to fuel the inflated egos of those who don't dare fighting real people.
If you want to make this a thing and want people to take you seriously, then go to lowsec. Highsec will get you laughed at, crushed and people will just whine until there is no bucket big enough to hold all the tears.

The concept isn't very new either. Check the Intaki Liberation Front, they fight for more autonomy for the Intaki system (which is in lowsec, 0.1 sec!) It even finds merit in the eve lore, increasing the chance that there will be official events related to their fight someday. The Intaki Liberation Front has been around for some time, so they know the pitfalls & troubles that come from trying to get more autonomy for a single starsystem. One of them is: don't limit yourself to a single systam, as it can't sustain your corp/alliance. You need to expand to neughtbouring systems to make sure your action is viable for everyone in your group.
Also, a fight for independance is best done in a lowsec system or a NPC nullsec system, as RP wise (and lorewise) it gives you much more to work with. Claiming a system in a sov null is not really advisable, as your neightbouring players would enjoy crushing you. After all, a single system in eve is just small game compared to the major powers out there, both NPC as player based. New Eden Capsuleer writing contest! I appreciate everyone's input. I haven't played since 2012. I have a 60 MIL SP toon, but it is mainly industrial. I just thought the concept would be interesting.
Null or low sec would be ideal, but before venturing out there you have to make sure you can survive first. |

This game has been around for YEARS, original ideas are hard to come by.
Perhaps starting a corp, performing faction warfare/pve in High sec then moving to a Low Sec/Null sec system once "Strong enough" to form an independent system would be interesting. |

It could work. Try it!
You have to remember one thing though: Eve is a sandbox, and just like you can do anything you want, everyone else can too -- including harassing you. Sooner or later you will be targeted by someone looking for fun or profit at your expense, and you will need to be able to stand up for yourself. If you're lucky, it might even be RP-related!
Anyway, good luck! Come hang out in IGS (the RP forum) sometime.

Why not do it right away? It's not that dangerous, and keeps you away from the pitfall of perpetual "not ready yet". ISD LackOfFaith Captain Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) Interstellar Services Department I do not respond to Eve Mail or anything other than the forums. |

A very common misconception. The best way to survive in low/null is to go live there. Otherwise youll stick yourself into a permanent training queue, telling youself:
"One more skill and ill go..."
"Once I get large t2 guns ill go..."
"Once I can fly a T3 ill go..."
And youll never go. Killboard

I've lost a starbase before.
But if you go into Nullsec you need to be capable of claiming that territory. High Sec with an RP story would be a good staging ground. |

What good would claiming SOV do you? You cant even do that in h-sec anyway.
If you've lost a starbase you know its all you need (or just a can anchored at a safespot). You can't fight for a star-system's independence if you start by making it independent first. You should start with control. Then fight to make it independent. Then fight to keep it that way. Whether that involves paying a SOV bill is irrelevant.
The RP story would be that of the determined little group vs the nullsec armies.

CVA used to do this I believe? Think they were Amarr roleplayers that claimed some nullsec in the name of the Amarr faith and they flew nothing but Amarr ships.
I don't think they do it much anymore, but could always mail their diplo and ask how they started... Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

Hate to say it, but yours isn't either.
A while back (around 2011 / 2012 I think) we had some guys that claimed the Greater Itamo region (basically Itamo and connecting dead end systems) as their own and anybody who didn't pay them rent, were forced out.
But I really like the idea and would love to see you try it (and hopefully succeed). Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy
