(Sorry if this should be in 'Out of Pod', but it is sort of linked to EVE, and is just a bit of fun for the oldies like me who loved this great TV series)
Conclusive proof that Avon was indeed a better leader than Blake

As soon as I read the title of the post, the theme tune ran through my head
It was crap though I had some serious early teeenage sexual fantasies about Servalan (made up spelling - the evil woman)

Pah!
I was wondering how long it would take someone to notice that.
The actual figure on that site is inaccurate though - I've lots of half-trained skill that don't seem to have had their SPs counted.
I'm actually on 48,586,720.

Hehe. Glad you've taken it well. That site has lost a few of my skillpoints too (along with my 84 level 5 skills) - I currently have 48,702,904

I think a lot of us had similar feelings about Servalan... she was strangely sexy (must be a power thing).

I met the real Avon (Paul Darrow) last March... top bloke, and still very passionate about the series.
Blake's 7 was a quality show. Yes it had low budget special effects, but the stories and character acting was (and still is) far superior to a lot of sci-fi shows around today.

Lol. Whatever you say sir. I wouldn't dare argue with you. My pod goo is nice and comfortable - I wouldn't want that to change over a 'misunderstanding' _____________________

The characters were the show. It was pretty ground-breaking to have characters that were not all one big happy family, especially in a sci-fi show. You see it more recently in shows like Firefly, and in B5 before that, but Blakes 7 really broke the mold when it came to character relationships.
The relationship between Orac, Vila, and Avon lead to some of the best moments of the series IMHO.

I always used to laugh when they got bored with Orac and pulled out its battery.

It's great to hear you've met him. I'm VERY tempted to go to the yearly convention
Star One
It was a bit upsetting to see him in an advert for a mobility scooter recently, but I guess it's impossible for someone to stay the same as your memory of them. It's nice to hear that he still cares about the series so much after all these years though.

Blake's 7 is probably the only TV show where the good guys lost in the end. I'll never forget the last episode where Avon kills Blake by mistake, shortly followed by federation troops massacring the entire cast in the final shoot-out.
Imagine the crew of the enterprise in star trek getting butchered by klingons in the last ever epsisode
Classic British script-writing. Dark, gritty, and mold-braking like Avon says.

The episode 'Orbit' was probably one of my favourites, as it pretty much summed up the relationship between those 3 characters when confronted with a shuttle that is too heavy to break orbit -
Avon: Dammit! What on this ship weighs seventy kilos? Orac: Vila weighs seventy-three kilos, Avon...

That's where I met him, at the Star One convention. Most of the cast were there and they're just as enthusiastic about the series as the fans are. The series has had a mini-revival with the release of the DVD's and re-runs on UK Gold.
I'd definately recommend attending the next Star One

It was indeed a superb series and I will be glad to see its possible return.... Linkage
Darrow bought the rights off Terry Nation in 2003 - and with Dr.Who making a spectacular rise from the grave on BBC and Sci-Fi, it could happen.
And yes, you may worship me.

Haven't seen it since its original TV broadcast, but I seem to recall Blake selling them out and being quite deserving of what he got.

No, no, no, no.
Blake was posing as a federation bounty hunter because he wasn't sure of the loyalties of the people around him. Avon thinks Blake has betrayed them, and so kills him.
