Hi,
I have completed Angel Extravaganza Lvl 3 but not the last gate. I have completed all of Guristas Extravaganza including the last gate w/ the raven bs solo. Any advice on a ferox' setup is welcomed for the last gate in Angel Extravaganza.
Here's what I used the first time I did the mission:
Highs:
5x Malkuth Heavy Missile Launcher 1x Med Nos 1x Tractor Bm
Mids:
2x Invulnerability field I 3x Lrg Sh extenders T2
Lows:
1x Pseudoelecton containment Field I 2x Shield Flux Coil I 1x Type -d Core Modificaiton Diagnostic system
Drones used: 5x warrior I

I haven't tried the Angel bonus level yet (tag apparently gets eaten, worth 1mil, crappy loot), but your setup is very close to mine.
5x Arbalest Heavy Launchers 2x Tractor Beam (no need for NOSes unless I get NOSed)
2x Invuln Field II's (much better than T1's) 3x Large Shield Extender II's
1x Pseudoelectron Containment Field 1x Ballistic Control System II 1x Power Diagnostic System II 1x Shield Power Relay I
That's my "tanking" setup - I swap out an Invuln II for a 10MN AB II for most missions - in fact the bonus level to Gurista Extravaganza is the only lvl3 mission I need the 2nd Invuln II for right now. Having good drone skills helps too (especially Drone Interfacing lvl3-4).
For a mission Ferox setup, I'm pretty sure this is about as good as it gets (well, all T2 stuff would be a teeny bit better), so if you're having problems soloing stuff, all I could suggest would be to increase your skills.

Are you really using Shield Flux Coils? If so, swap them for Shield Power Relays. Flux Coils reduce your max shields which reduces your effective recharge rate. Basically, two steps forward, one step back.

I'm gonna rock out in*****mode for a sec here because it is just such a goddamn widespread misconception that there's only one major way to gear a Ferox.
**** I HATE missiles. It's that kind of assumption that leaves us with 60% of people flying Caldari and 50% of those flying goddamn Ravens.
Rails Ferox > Missiles Ferox. Having trouble soloing? Try hybrids (and t2 drones).

when I was running a ferox I think I had 1 t1 invul field and the rest large extenders T2. in lows I stayed with ALL shield recharge mods... forgot the name but the ones that reduce shield recharge and greatly extend capacitor recharge time..
I would nothing in lvl 3's could touch my tank. and alot of the time I didn't even bother turning on the invul field.
I'm buying another ferox. they are just so damn nice in lvl 3's

Capo,
Thanks for the info. Yes, reducing shield recharge time is what needs to be considered. Cap is not really an issue.

I would just use a kinetic and explosive hardener instead of the invul. fields. The amount of em dmg is fairly negligible. And shield power relays are the way to go.

Ok, switch out your entire setup to this:
Hi: 5 Heavy's, 2 Tractors (or 2 rails if you need more dps)
Med: 3 Large Shield Extenders, 1 Explosive Hardner (for angels), 1 Kinetic Hardener
Low: All Shield Power Relays.
AVOID DAMAGE CONTROL SYSTEMS. Especially avoid DCS's if you use Invuln fields. If you use two invuln fields AND a DCS you're completely wasting your slot. Getting less than 50% benefit from the DCS.
If you're in a ferox and wanna passive tank it, go all the way. Don't play around with half of what you need. Go all out with it and it will work far better. EVE is a game of min-maxing all the way. If a module is better, use it.. don't split between 1 good mod, 1 semi good mod and 1 crappy mod. The

Assuming you mean Damage Control I's here.
2 x Invul field & 1 x Damage Control is all good, Damage control is low-slot, and doesn't get a stacking penalty (as putting a 3:rd Invul does), plus it adds to armor and hull resistance.
So, Idk what you're smoking.

What's this, more Raven bashing?
Jeez, that's getting old. You can't 'hate' missiles. That's just a strange thing to say. If you are however, jealous of missile users, who co-incidentally trained just as much as you to get where they are, then train up for them. My main has over 7.4m in missile skills and it's getting a bit tiring hearing how missile spammers are not 'as good' pilots as rails or projectile pilots. It's ALL part of the game and afaiac is GOOD for the game. So please, stop with the 'we're the elite, because we don't use those lowly missile Ravens'.

With regards to the OP, I would stick with most of the set-ups listed in hi or med slots. However, this is the set-up I used for meh level 3's;
Hi: 5 x heavies; 2 x 125mm rails [T2 if you can on guns and missiles] Med: 2 x large shield extender II's; 2 x inv. field II's; 1 x webber Lo: 2 x ballistic control II's; 2 x mag stabs
Yes, the drones can chew through the faster ships, but the rails ENSURE that they don't get naughty on you. More than 2 large shield extenders is more than sufficent for the ferox in all level 3's, as with the inv. fields you're not gonna need to change out all the time for rat-specific missions.
However, it worked for me. Hope this provided another option for you .

Edited by: Pyrius Omega on 13/08/2006 12:02:49 Hi,
Thanks for all the replies to this topic. I went through the first 5 lvl of this mission yesterday. That was pretty easy. I only lasted for about 5 minutes before warping out. The mix of active and passive did not work even though my resists were high, they did not hold for some reason. My expl resist was 94% and kin resist was 89% and they still ate through my shielding like butter. As stated previously there's hardly any EM and some therm dmg.
I had the following setup:
5x heavies, 2x med nos
2x invul fld T2s, 1 ballistic T2 active hardener, 1 kin passive, 1 ballistic passive
1x pdu 3x shield relay Is
Next time that I get this mission, I'll try all passive hardeners. Btw. Did the eve devs change anything in the bonus lvl that would eat my shield like they did w/ the resists as high as mine. And, do I need higher resists?
Nutbar, have you been given Angel Extrav yet and have done the bonus lvl? Btw. I have done all lvl 3 missions solo except for the first time that I went from lvl 2 to lvl 3 missions. My Agent introduced me to lvl 3 by giving me Massive Attack 2x in a row. What a nice guy. I'll post back later if and when I get this mission again.
